Multiple Measures: The Concept Research shows that students’ backgrounds, environments, and
personal habits may have more influence on their potential academic success than their residual academic skills.
Ability to use demographic information/background questions in combination with test scores to determine placement.
Multiple measures factor that information into the placement decision at testing time.

Multiple measures that may be appropriate for your college population:

It is important to: • consult your faculty and department heads for their feedback • know your population • formulate the questions in an easy to read format • not ask too many preliminary questions • edit and review questions as needs change

center if the student cannot come to campus for testing – Allows the student to be tested remotely using the institution-specific
test profiles, background questions, placement rules, etc. – Results are available immediately to the home institution.
■ Option to stop and resume testing later:
– Proctor must approve this option – Allows a student to return at a more convenient time – Non- completer test results will be available in reporting
■ Platform Reliability: – The platform is available 24/7 with system reliability maintained at
99.75% or better.

Overall Placement Score – Based on collective test items
Diagnostic Scoring – Can lead to customized MFL Strands from exiting exams and strands created for custom content are combined into a custom test. Scores will include strand-level diagnostic results plus an overall placement score based on collective test items.
