Knowledge of materials and manufacturing technology isvery important for a product design engineer

However, many materials and manufacturing technologies

involve a great degree of technical expertise and capitalinvestment, and there are companies who have specialisedin making components and assemblies using specificmaterials and manufacturing technologies

Product designers should obtain information about these

companies and develop quality components and assembliesfrom them at optimum cost during the productarchitecture stage
