Dear Friends,Here we are, about to enter the busy time of year. All the events and gatherings seem to make these next few months fly by so quickly. We sit back after and think, “where did it go?’.

My goal this year is to not let that happen! I want to enjoy the moments rather than think about my to-do list. I want to make time in between the chaos to reflect. I’m sure I’ll have my moments of stress and failures, but I want to at least go into this next season with a mindset of pausing. What are your goals for this upcoming season?

One little guy, invited by a friend, came up to me a few weeks ago at the end of our Sunday school service. He asked if we could pray for his little sister who wasn’t feeling well. Amid the chaos as parents were picking up kids, I knelt next to him so I could hear one of the most precious prayers. I’m thankful for moments to pause and hear the needs of these little hearts.

Our vision of sharing the gospel and our lives with the military community has never rang truer to me than this past season. As much as I’d love to sit in my own little bubble, I can’t. It’s so much more than teaching some lessons on a Sunday morning or weeknight. It’s being Christ’s love to others in the moments. It’s sitting with someone crying and pouring their heart out. It’s talking through transition with pre-teens. It’s celebrating the wins and being

there to support during the loses. It’s watching the beauty of a new life entering the world. It’s good. It’s complicated. It’s hard. It’s heart wrenching. It’s beautiful. It’s life.

Here are some of our “Yay God!” moments of the past season: • We have almost double the amount of kids registered for

AWANA this year!!! • A trunk-or-treat, open to Japanese locals and military

families, was well attended—we went through 13 gallons of ice cream!

• A new chaplain who is excited to dive into the community.• A “new to me” pink car! • A solid group of young Marines and spouses attending

weekly Bible study.• Being a part of the moment when kiddos got to see their

new baby sister for the first time• An updated foyer with paint!!!! (This seems small, but in

the military world of beige colors-this is huge!)

Here are some ways you can continue to pray:• Volunteers to come in who have a passion for sharing

Jesus with kids.• Our new chaplain as he makes changes and guides our

community.• Wisdom for myself as I discern how to meet the needs in

an ever-changing community.

Thank you for all the help many of you have been over the last few years—I’ve been in Okinawa for four years! Sometimes it feels like I’ve been here a lifetime, and other times it feels like a blink of an eye. I’m so grateful for all the cards, emails, and messages over the years filled with encouragement. Your prayers and financial sacrifice have made these things, and more, possible. You have played a part in these moments. Thank you!

Christmas is typically the time many provide financial support. Your support reaches the men, women, and children of our Marine Corps stationed overseas. Your tax-deductible donations will continue providing safe and encouraging environments for a group of people who sacrifice daily for our freedoms. Please help us serve those who serve for us. You can give through the included forms or online at Cadence.org/Rooney.

Thank you for your generosity in making this work possible.

Love, Sarah
