Mission: Empower higher education to lead the
sustainability transformation Enable institutions to model sustainability in all
their operations, including governance, education, research, engagement.

Inclusive, encompassing human and ecological health, social justice, secure livelihoods, and a better world for all generations
Three spheres - not just about the "environment."

AASHE's Vision
AASHE envisions a prosperous, equitable, and ecologically healthy world.
In such a world, higher education plays a vital role in ensuring that people have: an understanding of the inter-
dependencies between environmental, social, and economic forces; and
the skills and abilities to meet sustainability challenges
AASHE's Structure
Non-profit organization - 501(c)(3) Board of Directors - 11-17 members from
across U.S., including business leaders, academics, administrators and students
Staff – approx 25 in 10 states (offices in Lexington, KY and Denver, CO)
Advisory Council – 50-60 members Senior Council – 10-15 members Members are non-voting
