Indian Institute of Welding ANB
The Indian Institute Of Welding has been accredited by
International Institute of Welding (IIW) with 53 nations as
member countries as its only ‘Authorised National Body’
(ANB) in India to operate its various international schemes
and award International Welding Diplomas.
The Following IIW Diplomas are offered
International Welding Coordination Personnel:
IWE, IWT, IWS & IWP
International Welding Inspection Personnel:
Basic, Standard & Comprehensive levels
International Welder:
Fillet, Plate and Tube/Pipe in various processes
& materials
4
Welding Coordination Personnel
• Welding is to be treated as a "special process" since
welds cannot be fully verified by subsequent inspection
and testing of the product. Quality cannot be inspected
into a product; it has to be built into it
• All Personnel who have responsibilities in the
manufacturing operation for welding and welding related
activities and whose competence and knowledge have
been demonstrated by training, education and relevant
manufacturing experience are covered by ISO14731.
• Welding coordination is considered as the responsibility
of all manufacturing organisations using welding as a
process and mandatory for those having ISO 3834
certification

International Welder • ANB-India offers International Welder Diplomas to eligible candidates
(Class X pass + basics in metal working) based on the detailed course
content (Theory and Practical skill) forming part of the guideline of the
IIW-International Authorisation Board (IAB).
• The Diploma specifies 3 levels of increasing knowledge & skill as
International Fillet Welder (IFW), International Plate Welder (IPW),
International Tube (Pipe) Welder (ITW) taking into account the welding
process and material to be welded.
• A candidate may opt to take a course for any one or all of the process
on MMA, MIG/MAG or TIG for any material (C Steel, SS or Aluminium)
• The diploma of 'International Welder' also includes an additional
Qualification certification for practical skill tests as per ISO 9606-1.
• The ANB has appointed welder training Institutes as Approved
Training Bodies (ATBs) to impart the practical and theoretical training
programmes. Prospective candidates are required to undergo training in
these ATB’s in the welding course of their choice.• Final Theory and Practical tests are conducted by ANB as per IAB rules
14
Welder Qualification
• Welders’ Approval Testing and Certification is required to meet
industry demand for Certification of welders already engaged in welding
job in order to ensure compliance to their Quality System including their
customer requirement and also to comply with ISO 3834.
• It is necessary to have an Approved Welding Procedure for welder
qualification.
• The Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) approval test is carried out
by a competent welder based on a provisional WPS (pWPS). The
intention is to demonstrate that the proposed welding procedure will
produce a welded joint which will satisfy the designed requirements of
weld quality and properties conforming to relevant welding code/
standard. This enables creation of Welding Procedure Qualification
Record (WPQR)
• The Welder Approval Test examines a welder's skill and ability in
producing a satisfactory test weld following a WPS.
• The renewable Welders Qualification Certificates may be prepared as
per ISO 9606 / EN287 / IS 7310 or under ASME Sec IX, AWS. 15
