Computing, Simulation and Landmark Visualization Facility (CSLV)
• This facility provides researchers with access to computer resources and licensed software for imaging, modeling and simulation, as well as two wide format plotters.
• The facilities Geophysics Research Lab is located on the fourth floor of the Earth Sciences (Alexander Murray) Building in ER-4036.

The CSLV services fall under two categories:
• Computer ResourcesUsed primarily by the Geophysics group within the Earth Sciences Department
• Wide Format Printing and ScanningUsed by the Memorial community at large

Computer Resources – Hardware• 5 High end workstations each equipped with a powerful GPU, up to 96G of RAM and dual 27
inch 4K monitors
6th older workstation used for tape drives
• The workstations are multiplatform and able to boot Windows 10 or Red Hat Enterprise Linux
• The lab runs its own internal network to allow for greater network speeds and additional security for sensitive data
• The lab is linked to a Research Data Center managed by the CREAIT Information Systems Group which is used to host:
Halliburton Landmark Software suite and associated Oracle database Roughly 20T of storage for user data which is backed up nightly User authentication and licensing services

Computer Resources – Software
Thanks to multimillion dollar software donations to Memorial the lab is able to provide users with state of the art software used in the oil and gas industry for academic research and teaching.
• Halliburton Landmark Software Linux platform. Expansive software suite that includes an Oracle database. Modules cover everything from oil & gas exploration and development through to
production. ~$90,000,000 USD over 3 years.
• Schlumberger - Petrel, Techlog & PetroMod Windows platform. ~$30,000,000 USD over 3 years.

Computer Resources – Services
With the workstations and software in place the CSLV can provide:
• Ready to use workstations that are:
Configured the same and interchangeable with access to user data. A shared resource reducing the need for hardware investment. Configured for remote access with the advent of Covid-19.
• User data storage with backup.
• Data loading support.
• Software support.

Wide Format Printing and Scanning
• The CSLV is equipped with two wide format printers each of which has an attached 600dpi colour scanner.
• The primary purpose for having the wide format printers is to print seismic sections which can often be 5 to 12 feet in length.
• Having the printers has enabled the CSLV to offer wide format printing and scanning services.
