In 2013, a principal contractor was prosecuted after a workman fell from an unguarded edge into a riser duct and plunged over four storeys on a major project to renovate the historic Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square, London. The total distance of the fall was more than 14 metres and the incident gained significant media attention.

Accidents like this, involving falls can be prevented if the right training and equipment are provided and properly used.

be used in a variety of applications to replace steel, metal or wood.

Dura Grating Service Riser Flooring is also extremely versatile; we offer a Post Fix Perimeter Frame Solution following the curing of concrete, or the option for Dura Grating to be cast into concrete using a perforated steel deck box to form a level floor which negates trips and falls, and acts as a concrete shutter. This provides a permanent structural riser void decking solution without the need to breakout timbers at a later stge of the project.

A Point Load is any static load considered to act over a small or concentrated area when compared to the extent of the surface to which the load is applied. A Uniformly Distributed Load or UDL is one where the load is considered evenly distributed across a defined area. Determining the correct load rating for your riser flooring platform is dependent on the intended use and types of equipment placed on it.
