From the opening of the first store in 1862 to the boom years of the 1950s, the Co-op remained at the heart of the community. Explore objects and photographs donated by local people and listen to fond memories of time spent working at, and visiting, the Co-op.

There are lots of family activities you can get involved in from baking to walking tours. There’s something for the whole family this summer!

Children can pick up a divi-loyalty card from the museum, take part in four activities and receive a free gift at the museum shop!

LIVINg hISTOrY – wOODY ThE TIME TrAVELLINg ShOPPErSaturday 1 August Saturday 19 SeptemberHelp Woody, a time traveller from a distant planet, build a time machine so you can find out about life in the past and go on a shopping adventure. Meet Dotty in the Co-op shop in 1936 and then travel back to the 1840s to meet her grandmother at the first Co-op shop in Rochdale. Living History workshops use performance and interactive drama activities to bring learning to life. Performance by the People’s History Museum.
