  • BENEFITS OF SERVICE LEARNING STUDENTS in service-learning classes can benefit academically, professionally, and personally. These are just a few of the ways: Increase your understanding of the class topic Gain hands-on experience (possibly leading to an internship or job later) Explore or cement your values and beliefs Have opportunities to act on your values and beliefs Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills Grow your understanding of diverse cultures and communities

  • ADOPT A HIGHWAY This was the first hour of community service I received this semester Matt took me and a few others from are class to pick up trash on the side of the road You dont understand the difference you make immediately when doing something like this but when you actually are there picking up the trash and seeing how much is being collected you can definitely tell that its necessary

  • This Event was pretty cool to me. There are many activities & things here at VSU but this one really stands out in opinion. It has a bunch of different group and organizations that come out for the same cause and the students get to participate as well I Tried to do what I could to participate even though I only had a few dollars in my pocket at the time RELAY FOR LIFE

  • This is Something I found out about a little late and I showed up around 10:00 or 11:00 A.M, it was a huge turn out This event was kind of like relay for life for the whole community only every thing was free I ended up meeting a pastor during the event and he and his daughter were hard at work picking up trash during the event and I helped him out while I was there You really dont know how much trash ends up everywhere during events like this especially when your having fun but I found out first hand COMMUNITY DAY

  • This was my first time volunteering for a shelter of any kind The volunteers had to go through orientation before we actually got to do any work Then I spent time walking snickers the cat who they said is overweight She was 20 something pounds and they have her on a diet The part I enjoyed most was probably hanging with the cats in the cat room DOG SHELTER
