America's Second Harvest is the largest Hunger Relief organization in the world. Our network annually provides billions of pounds of food to over 31 million hungry families each year. America's Second Harvest of South Georgia hosts programs like The Valdosta Food Bank, Rescue Valdosta, Kids Cafe', The Community Soup Kitchen, Manna Truck, and the Community Kitchens Program.

My work with Second Harvest Food Bank

In the time I’ve spent at our Food Bank here in Valdosta, I’ve performed various tasks such as numbering ducks for a fundraiser; making phone calls to obtain information about local kitchens, pantries, and shelters; and sorting through donated food.

Relay For Life

More than 20 years ago, one man took it upon himself to raise money to support the efforts of the American Cancer Society. Today, more than three million Americans participate in Relay events nationwide.

. Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event

designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

I attended the Brooks County Relay for Life on April 29, 2005. I helped with the

dedication ceremony, keeping the lanterns blazing, and the clean-up efforts.
