Metrobus Routes U2, U8, V7, V8, V9

On Sunday, June 21, 2015, Metro will implement major changes on the U and V Lines in the District of Columbia. These changes are designed to improve service and better match the travel needs of riders. Changes include the elimination of routes U2, V7, V8, shortening U8, and extending V9 and establishing new routes U7, V1, V2 and V4. Details on alternative routing and new bus routes are inside.

There will be no changes to routes U4, U5, U6 and V5.

What these changes mean for you:

For U2 riders:

Route U2 will be replaced by the new route V2, which will also be extended to Capitol Heights station. Refer to route V2 in the table on back for more details.

For U8 riders:

Route U8 will be shortened to serve Minnesota Avenue station and Benning Heights only. For service between Minnesota Avenue and Capitol Heights stations, riders can take new routes V2 and V4. Refer to routes V2 and V4 in the table on back for more details.

For V7 and V8 riders:

Service between Deanwood and Minnesota Avenue stations will be provided by the new route U7. Please refer to route U7 in the table on back for more details.

Service between Minnesota Avenue and Navy Yard-Ballpark stations will be provided by the new route V4, which will operate between Capitol Heights and Navy Yard-Ballpark stations via Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue and Minnesota Avenue. Refer to route V4 in the table on back for more details.

Service west of Navy Yard-Ballpark will be available on new route V1 during peak hours, Monday through Friday only. Refer to route V1 in the table on back for more details.

For V9 riders:

Route V9 will be renamed route V1 and will extend past Navy Yard-Ballpark station to the Bureau of Engraving to replace former route V7 peak period trips. Morning trips will only operate westbound to Bureau of Engraving, and afternoon trips will only operate eastbound to Benning Heights. Refer to route V1 in the table on back for more details.
