■ Sokkia’s traditional opticsSokkia’s traditional optics have never been morerefined. Light is projected from the middle of anobjective lens and received along its periphery. When combined with a narrow measuring beam, thisdesign enables pinpoint measurement and is highlyeffective even with narrow objects. Furthermore, thenew telescope provides an extremely bright andsharp sight.

■ New advances with RED-tech EDM

Sokkia’s revolutionary digital signal processing technology, RED-tech, relies on a unique procedure for measurement beam analysis. Using anA/D converter, it simultaneously samples measuring signals in three different frequencies. Furthermore, RED-tech uses advanced software tocalculate distances. As a result, RED-tech ensures that the calculation method most suited to the condition of the measuring beam is selected. Italso is able to deliver greater accuracy, speed, and range.

And now, RED-tech has been furtherenhanced through the inclusion of improvedoptical and electronic components. Its newlight emitting and receiving optics provide theideal light path for capturing light withminimal loss. And its new highly tunableoptical filter, which captures multiple samplesof beams carrying the correct measurementinformation, gives you greater precision withdifficult-to-measure objects. Thanks to thesenew components and its advancedtechnology, RED-tech EDM paves the way tounprecedented distance measurementpossibilities.

■ Ultra-wide reflectorless measurement rangeFrom extra-long distances to remarkably short ones, the Series30R offers accurate reflectorless measurement over a tremendous range ofdistances. The Series30R total stations feature a Class 3R laser, and cover a range from 0.3m to 350m (1ft. to 1,140ft.). Models equipped with aClass 2 laser are also available. These have a reach of up to 150m (490ft.) or 100m (320ft.).

Measure long distances by directing the laser beam at a reflector. When using a singleAP prism, you can measure as far as 5,000m (16,400ft.)* at once, with an accuracy of±(2 + 2ppm x D)mm. In addition, reflective sheet targets may be used to getmeasurements of up to 500m (1,640ft.)** with ±(3 + 2ppm x D)mm precision. Choosefrom Sokkia’s wide selection of sheet targets to suit your needs. Rotating pin-poletargets, two-point target for measuring hidden points, and many other innovativereflective targets are available.

* In good weather conditions except SET630R. ** When using RS90N-K.

In the reflective sheet or prism modes, maximum laser output isautomatically reduced to 0.22mW. This is equivalent to the level ofa Class 1 laser. The Series30R also includes a safety filter in thetelescope, which protects your eye from the laser beam if youhappen to sight a reflective prism or sheet target while inreflectorless mode.

The Series30R employs an ultra small-diameter visible laser to obtain measurements with pinpointaccuracy. Fine objects, as well as the corners of walls and other structures, can be measured precisely. You can also make accurate measurements through obstacles such as chain-link fences and treebranches.

■ Ultra-narrow visible laser for pinpoint accuracy

A

B

C

ASeries30R: The ultra-narrow laser beam enables accurate measurements through obstacles such as chain-link fences, tree branches, etc. Broader beam models: Both the fence and wall get measured, which leads to erroneous measurement.

CSeries30R: Measurements at small incident angles, such as with manholes on the road surface, are handled with high precision by the ultra-narrow laser measuring beam. Broader beam models:Wider measuring beams end up covering a larger area than expected at small incident angles, resulting in measurements that are too long or short.

BSeries30R: The measuring beam is extremely narrow, so distances to walls and corners can be measured with pinpoint accuracy. Broader beam models: A wide measuring beam hits points near and far at the same time, resulting in inaccurate measurement.

A Durable Partner That Gives Heavy-DutySupport for Daily Surveying Needs

Series30R

■ Sokkia's original absolute encoder

The Series30R models are equipped with Sokkia-developed absoluteencoders. These encoders feature the RAB (RAndom Bi-directional)code technology first used in the SDL30 digital level, which provideshigh stability and reliability. You do not need to reset for 0 indexing atthe start of a job, so surveying can begin from the moment you turnon the power. Work efficiency is also boosted by the immediatedisplay of azimuth whenever you restart the total station.

■ Set-out Line The Set-out line program is used for setting out and checkingalignment of curb lines, construction boards and grades ofpipes. A baseline or an offset from baseline can be defined. When calculating the measuring point, it's possible tocalculate and use the scaled down coefficient of the distanceand surveyed value that was calculated using the knowncoordinate values of 2 points.

■ Point ProjectionThis program projects a point onto a line. It calculates thedistance and offset of the point relative to the specifiedbaseline, and it computes the coordinates of the intersectionpoint, which can then be directly set out. Elevations areinterpolated where possible. When calculating the measuring point, it's possible tocalculate and use the scaled down coefficient of the distanceand surveyed value that was calculated using the knowncoordinate values of 2 points.
