Series: FoMO Title: Greater Things Speaker: Bob Marvel Date: January 27-28, 2018 What FoMo do you think Jesus has for us and how does Mic (Crocodile) Dundee illustrate it? What’s the potential FoMo we face in Matthew 16:24-25? Why is knowing the “why” behind Jesus’ command so important when it comes to following him? What’s the paradox of surrender all about? From reading Romans 12:2, how do we understand the phrase, ‘his good, pleasing and perfect will?’ Who is the good for? Read Luke 5:1-11, the story of Jesus and Simon. From Bob’s message, what was the setting/the context for this story? Put yourself in Peter’s sandals. What were some of the reasons he was reluctant to go fishing? Hint: compare - Nazareth and Capernaum Jesus’ trade and Peter’s Fishing techniques in the lake How did Jesus handle Peter’s questions, his doubts, his concerns? Have you ever had an assignment from God that you never saw coming that didn’t make sense? If God has recently given you an odd assignment, maybe your group could help you process it and pray with you. How do you handle other people’s questions and doubts, about God’s character and the way he handles things? Do you write them off, lecture or what? What do you do well and what need help? What did Peter finally decide to do and what did he say to Jesus? Luke 5:5 How did Bob phrase that in his message? Why is that so important to Jesus and those who follow him?
