View Specification Window

The first line of information (top line message) in the view specification window indicates whether program or note files are selected and whether files or directories are displayed in the listing window. The four possible top line messages are as follows:

• Viewing Program Files • Viewing Program Files • Viewing Note Files • Viewing Note Files

Directories Files Directories Files

The second and third lines are used to display the current directory and file name masks. The contents of the listing window can be controlled by specifying a mask consisting of letters and numbers, and two special characters, ? and * (described below under Special File Name Characters). A file directory mask is used when displaying directories and a file name mask is used when displaying files. Only files and directories that match the mask specification are listed. Masks are temporary and are reset to display all files and directories when the File Manager is run. The number of directories and files that match the mask are displayed to the right of the mask setting.

Listing Window

The listing window displays the files or directories that satisfy the mask specification. The mask defaults to display all files and directories when the File Manager is first loaded. The mask is changed through the menu commands described later. The menu commands also are used to change the display between note and program directories.

File And Directory Names

Files and Directories can be assigned 24-character names. The Series 90 pairs each 24-character name with the actual 8-character name saved on disk hv DOS. The DOS file name is transparent to the user. .

Special File Name Characters

The File Manager uses two special characters (7 and *) in a file specification. You can use these characters when referring to a file name. The? character in a mask indicates that any

Viewing Directories

The top line message of the view specification window indicates that the File Manager is viewing directories. The listing window displays a list of directories that match the directory mask setting. (Refer to the Directory Mask command discussed later under Menu Commands.) The listing window has four columns of information as shown below. From left to right, they are:

• Directory name • Number of files in the directory • Total number of bytes used by the files • Date the directory was created

The directory screen is used to select a files screen for a specific directory. From the directory screen, directories can be created and deleted. (Refer to Menu Commands.)

Viewing Files

The top line message of the view specification window indicates that the File Manager is viewing files. The listing window displays files for the selected directory. The directory name is displayed at the top of the listing window, which displays a list of files that match the Files Mask setting. (Refer to the Files Mask command discussed later under Menu Commands.) The listing window has four columns of information, as shown below. From left to right, they are:

• File name • File status flags • Total number of bytes used by the file • Date the file was lasted changed

File Status Flags

Two file status flags, T and N, are used in the files listing window to indicate whether the files are ready to be used.

• The T flag indicates that a test file has been created. It is displayed for programs that have been compiled or for programs that were learned. A test can be run using these files.

• The N flag indicates a net list has been created by the Compiler. A net list is required when running the build modes and when getting a Net List printout. A net list is not generated during learn. To generate a net list for a learned file, load the file into the editor and Compile.

From the files listing window, files can be copied, moved, renamed, or deleted using the menu commands. The files listing window is as follows:

File Details

Each program is stored in a separate subdirectory and consists of several files. All files that pertain to the program are maintained in the one subdirectory. The Series 90 generates eight-character DOS names for the directories and subdirectories and maintains a cross reference between the DOS names and the 24-character user-assigned names. To simplify operations, only the 24-character names need to be selected when performing operations such as Load Program and Edit program. The Series 90 uses the 24-character name to locate the correct file to go with the selected operation. The individual files are kept transparent to the user. Since the DOS file names are generated by the Series 90, it is difficult to locate the files for a particular program outside the Series 90 program. However, the location, file name, file size, and the date each file was modified can be displayed from the file manager. While the Program files are on display as shown above, scroll down to the desired file, and press ENTER. Each file that makes up the program will be displayed along with the path specifying the location of the files, as shown below:

High Voltage Passwords

High Voltage Passwords are used to control access to the high voltage test of the Series 90HV. A default high voltage password "HANDS OFF" is used for temporary control until passwords are assigned and enabled. The default password is disabled when passwords are assigned and enabled. Passwords assigned that have the "Run High Voltage" function enabled can be used to activate the high voltage test. The password window shown below opens when a logged-in user who does not have the "Run High Voltage" function enabled attempts to run a high voltage test.

Cablescan Series 90 / Series 90HV CONDITION CIRCUIT INFORMATION

[ program name MEASUREMENT MIN

! !! \JARN I NG !!! HIGH VOLTAGE Test in Progress

Enter User HV Password

Password:

MAX

A password that has the "Run High Voltage" function must be entered before the high voltage portion of the test can be run. Entering the password does not permanently log the new user into the system, enables the high voltage only for the current test. The password must be entered for each test. This allows the test to be run only by specified individuals such as supervisors or test engineers.

The high voltage password window is opened only if the logged-in user is not authorized to run high voltage tests. However, if a user is logged in and is authorized to run high voltage tests, the high voltage test is run without pausing and displaying the high voltage password window. If it is desirable to have the tester pause before each high voltage test, a separate user name and password should be assigned for use only during high voltage testing. The Run High Voltage function should therefore be disabled for each operator password.

The Diagnostics screen opens a window for selecting five functions:

• Low Volta~e Components runs tests primarily on the scanner board transmit and receive pomts. This includes the solid-state switches and the FETs. Other components are tested on power-on and are assumed functioning during this test.

• High Voltage Components runs tests on the hardware on the scanner and scanner control boards used for testing high voltage and high current on the Series 90HV. These components include the relays, high voltage generator, discharge circuits, high current generator, and isolation amplifier.

• Update Firmware is used to download tester firmware to the scanner control board. (Software releases subsequent to 1.31 detect when new firmware needs downloading and display a prompt window before downloading.)

• Recompute Offset is used to measure resistance and capacitance values on each output to generate compensation values for component measurements. This function should be run each time scanner boards are added or removed -particularly when the system is being used to measure low resistance and capacitance components.

• Options determine whether to run a single test or continuous tests and whether the test results are to be displayed or printed.

Running Diagnostics

Diagnostic tests are divided into two groups: Low-voltage tests, and high-voltage tests. The Diagnostics pertain to testing the scanner control board and the scanner boards located in the expansion cabinets. They also verify communications between the computer and tester.

Low-Voltage Components Tests

There are five types of Low-Voltage Components tests.

1. SCB TEST (scanner control board) verifies communications to the computer and scanner boards. It also verifies scanner board initialization test results, which are stored in memory when power is applied.

2. SHORTS TEST performs shorts tests between all test points on the scanner boards. (Interface cables must be disconnected during diagnostics.)

3. SENSE LINE TEST verifies isolation and noise levels for each test point.

4. FET ON TEST verifies FET On condition for each test point by activating its 5-volt driver and verifying that the FET pulls the signal to ground.

5. FET OFF TEST verifies FET Off condition for each test point by activating its 5-volt driver and verifying that the signal is not pulled to ground.

Nine tests are performed on the high-voltage hardware when High-Voltage Components test is selected.

1. High Voltage Generator verifies the output voltage and the speed of the high voltage generator. It measures the read back voltage and the ramp-up time.

2. High Voltage Discharge verifies that the high voltage discharge circuit is functional. It measures the time required to reach the discharge level from the charge level.

3. High Current Select verifies the operation of the high current select relay and makes a pretest of the high current generator.

4. Scanner Relay verifies the operation of the scanner board relays using both a low current and high current source. This test requires all points within the test range to be shorted together.

5. High Voltage Select verifies the operation of the high voltage select relay. This test requires at least the first two points to be shorted.

6. High Current Generator verifies the operation of the high current generator.

7. Isolation Amplifier tests the isolation amplifier and the high voltage generator when loaded. This test requires that a known-value resistor is connected between the first two points on each expansion cabinet.

8. Controller Leakage tests for high voltage leakages on the scanner control board. The high voltage select relay is deactivated to isolate the control board from the scanner boards.

9. System Leakage tests the high voltage leakage in the complete system. The high voltage select relay is activated to connect the scanner boards.

Running the High Voltage Components Test

A High Voltage Components Test screen is displayed when the High Voltage Components test is selected. Each of the 9 types of high-voltage test can be individually enabled to be included when running a high voltage test. The left column of the screen presents a YES/NO to indicate whether the test is being included. To disable a test, arrow down to the line containing the test and press the letter N. To enable a test, arrow down to the line containing the test and press the letter Y. Pressing F2 begins the High Voltage test. The test pauses during specific tests to allow the operator to make changes in the fixturing. These changes include opening or shorting of test points (and installing a resistor during the Isolation Amplifier test). The High Voltage screen layout is shown below:

WARNING

Care must be taken when running high voltage tests. During portions of high voltage testing, lOOOvdc is applied to the test point connectors. Fixturing changes should be made only when prompted by the tester.

Errors: - indicates the number of individual tests that failed.

Level: - indicates the test level, NORMAL or FACTORY. Diagnostic tests are run at a NORMAL level. Factory level runs the tests at tighter tolerances.

Mode: - indicates whether the tests are running in a loop mode or a single test mode.

Shorting Bar: - indicates the size of the shorting bars installed during Scanner Relay tests. It must be specified in increments of 32. The Scanner Relay test pauses after testing the number of points specified by Shorting Bar, and prompts the operator to move the shorting bars to the location specified by Point. See Point, above.

Error Messages: - displays the test results and errors encountered during testing.

Update Firmware

Update Firmware is used to download the Scanner Control board software, which is saved on disk, to the EEPROM on the board. Some Series 90 software versions require changes to the tester's firmware on the Scanner Control board. Software releases prior to 1.40 required the download to be performed using this Diagnostics function. Software release after 1.31 checks the firmware in the Scanner Control board when Build or Test is selected. If the firmware requires updating, a prompt window is displayed. The firmware is automatically updated from build or test if YES is selected from the prompt window. The Update Firmware function can be used to force the firmware to be downloaded.

Recompute Offset

The Series 90 uses offset values to improve the low ohm and capacitance measurement capability. The offset values are created by averaging the resistance and capacitance measurements for all test points. If the Series 90 is used for making low value measurements, the Recompute Offset function should be run when Scanner boards are added to the system.

Options

The Options function is used to make option settings through the Diagnostic Options window, shown below. Changes made through this window are permanent changes and are saved to disk.

Output to Printer

The Output to Printer option is used to control whether the test results are to be printed. When set to NO, test results are sent only to the monitor. When set to YES, test results are sent to the monitor and to the printer.

Loop Test

Loop Test is used to perform continuous tests on the system. After all tests are performed, the Series 90 automatically starts a new series of tests. Loop Test is enabled by setting the option to YES.

Pause

The Pause option is used to determine when diagnostic tests are to be interrupted. There are four settings: ON ERROR, ON PAGE, END OF TEST, and OFF. When set to ON ERROR, the tests are halted after each error is displayed. When set to ON P AG E, errors are allowed to accumulate until the screen is full before the tests are halted. When set to END OF TEST, testing is halted after each type of test is run. When set to OFF, the diagnostic tests are not halted but errors are allowed to accumulate on the screen.

Report Test Results

The Report Test Results display a summary of all test results accumulated for each test. When set to YES, the final display screen displays the complete test results. When set to NO, test results are displayed only during each test and is not summarized at the end.
