To make traditional serendipity squares/paper, you need scraps of b&t paper that have been

ripped into approximately 2"x 2" (or smaller) pieces. You randomly layer these pieces onto a

sheet of cardstock until it is completely covered and then cut it apart and use the pieces as

accents on your projects. *Hint: I have found that a xyron is really handy for this project. I firstattach my adhesive onto my scraps, then rip them and stick them. You can also do this with the

150 (the little "X") or with normal adhesives after you have ripped your pieces.

For this project, you will need to cover a sheet of cardstock that measures 6"x12" with theserendipity. You need to make sure to cover the sheet all the way to the edge because you will be

using most of it including the edges. (see Fig. 1)

Once everything is stuck, then follow the cutting instructions above. Hint: as you cut your pieces, label them on the back as to which piece they go to. This will save you time and possibly a

    nightmare later.

All of the cards came out of the card confidence program- the 4 " x5 " section so you can

follow along. I will try to explain using the examples, the cutting sizes for those of you that don't

have the program. The cards are labeled by their corresponding number in the program.

For the purpose of this project, it is probably easiest to label your three cardstocks with the

numbers #1, #2, and #3. If you are following along with my samples, #1 is the hollyhock, #2 isthe garden green, and #3 is the buttercup.

Card #20- Wrap It Up (see Fig. 2):

    Base: cardstock #1

    A) 4 " x 3 "- neutral

    B) 4 " x 3" - Serendipity piece with optionalsliver layer done in #3 cardstock

    C) And D) done with a metal rimmed tag

When I add an optional sliver layer, it is an

additional tiny layer (1/16" on all edges) that I feeljust helps to tie the card all together. You can

decide if you want to add them or not.

Card #24- Flicks (see Fig. 3):

    Base: cardstock # 2, random stamped tone-on-tone

    A) 5 "x1 " - cardstock #3 with a sliver layerdone in a neutral

    B) 1"x1" - Serendipity pieces with sliver layer

    done in neutral

For an extra finishing touch, add a word or phrase

stamped directly onto the card, in the lower righthand corner.

    C) 3" x 1' -neutral with sliver layer done with #1

    D) 24" wire with beads added onto it as it wasattached

On this card, I layered A & B onto a sliver layer of

    neutral cardstock. I also added in a " x 4 " piece

of neutral down the center seam as an extra finish.

For the cover, you need to use an 8 " x 11" piece of cardstock #3. You will need to score thisfollowing the diagram. Cut a small triangle out of the bottom center up to the fold line. (see Fig.

    9)

    A) 2 " x 6" - neutral cardstock

    B) 2" x 6" - Serendipity

After folding the cover, adhere the pockets up on the outside edge only. Now punch a 1/8" holeon the right and left sides in the center approximately " in from the sides. For extra durability,

you can add an eyelet into each of these 4 holes, but it is not necessary. Thread the ribbon

    through according to Fig. 9.

Insert your cards and envelopes and you have a really nice little gift.
