“And let us consider how we may spur one another toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another--and all the
more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-26

I remember that Tuesday morning like it was yesterday! It started out like any other day, yet ended tragically! I was visiting a parishioner and while sitting at her table we received news of the first plane hitting the World Trade Center. We sat surprised and shocked at what was unfolding. On that Tuesday morning, September 11th, the face of America and the world were radically altered and we still remember.
Since that day we witnessed attacks around the world claiming lives of many people. I am continually amazed by the “no holds barred” approach to “religion” that pervades the world today. In America God has been relegated to a position of subservience to other ideologies and positional movements which are motivated more out of anger and hatred than desirous of true change. Soldiers of the causes are sent out to create chaos and havoc all the while proclaiming that they are reformers against causes that discriminate and/or separate people by religion or race.
I firmly believe that discrimination is wrong! I also firmly believe that people are sinful by nature! Yet, I know that there is a solution to the problem! This solution is free! It has no political allegiance! Race is not an issue for all are equal and valued! People of all nations and religious loyalties can be accepted! The solution is granted by free will and not by mandate or threat! What is this solution? Jesus Christ! Many will look at this solution as intellectually deficient or a story created by the weak willed, yet it has stood the test of time.
Satan blinds people to the solution and creates diversions to keep our mind off God. He does not care about fair-ness, peace, or doing what is right. He is a liar who whispers his insidious ideas into people’s hearts to cause rebel-lion. September 11th shares the violence and hate that is rooted in evil. Yet the message of Jesus communicates freedom from oppression. John 14:6 says, “6Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. With Jesus there is no discrimination, Romans 3:22b-24 says, “…There is no difference, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 10:9-13 tells us, “9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
The solution to evil is clear. James tells us, 7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you…10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” (James 4:7-8,10)

PRESCHOOL NEWS The end of summer is almost here so that means back to school! Preschool started Monday, August 29th-our 29th year. In Preschool we get the children ready for kindergarten by preparing them both socially and academically, as well as making them feel secure in new surroundings. We start each day with a prayer and a Bible story. We stress kindness, sharing, taking turns, and saying “please” and “thank you”.
Throughout the year we work on upper and lower case letters, numbers 1-10, colors, shapes, printing names, Pledge of Allegiance, singing, and much more. We end the day with a craft that centers around the Bible story for the day. Please continue to support the Preschool through your prayers. God bless, Barb and Sue

August Mill-Green Youth News All of our youth (Ariana, Kelly, Jen, Brock and Greg, along with the fearless leaders, Tara and Ryan) arrived home safely from their trip to Honduras, each with amazing, moving stories to share with the rest of us. God’s grace and love is abounding here but so visible in a third world country. Attendance to youth group surprisingly remained steady throughout the summer. We averaged between 8-17 kids per Sunday. We did a bible series on “Teens vs. Parents”, looking at the ever constant power struggle between par-ents and teens, and more importantly what the bible has to say about it. Our pool kick-off party was a bust, due to me making an early call on cancelling due to impending weather, BUT… we had 17 show up to the Wesley House anyway for pizza and an impromptu game of “Mafia” (not as bad as it sounds!) The following weekend the Gordner family offered up their home and pool so we could kick it off right and that we did! 16 kids showed up, bringing a huge variety of food! (It’s all about the food with them!) We briefly dis-cussed our upcoming series to begin next week on “Identity”. Every kid needs to figure out who they are! We have decided to do a fundraiser spaghetti dinner on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Any donations of spaghetti and sauce would be greatly appreciated. A sign up sheet will be passed around in the next few months. It will be a little different this year (surprise), in that each youth member was asked to sell tickets to the dinner… Of course walk-ins are welcome. This year we will also have a set price for the dinners. In case you are not approached by the youth, this is what the advanced sales tickets look like:
