MAHATMA GANDHI’S 148

TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY

P a g e 2

With a promise to self and a duty towards humanity, the

entire DPS faculty along with the hostlers were whole

heartedly involved in the attainment of a mission initiat-

ed long ago by our father of the nation, Mahatma Gan-

dhi and further ignited by the glowing spirits of our

honourable Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Damodardas Modi, ‘Swachhta hi seva’

The family joined hands and hearts in realizing the commendable step taken by the

Principal, Mr. B.S.Yadav on this very salubrious occasion.

The dawn of the day witnessed an effervescent audience answering to the questions

voiced by Mr. Pradeep Purohit about the life and deeds of Mahatma Gandhi. The en-

riching session soon turned on when all ears echoed with the captivating voice of the

first Deputy Prime Minister of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, in his address during the Indo- Pak partition.

With a zeal to reform and reframe the infrastructure of the present Indian scenario, all the hands were soon put

into action towards cleanliness. The premises of the school bloomed with the touch of love and tidiness through

the over whelming strife towards cleanliness by the faculty members and the ever-vibrant hostlers who worked

incessantly without the motive of gain or reward.

The mission to spread the spirit of cleanliness shall reach further heights if the spark continues to ignite in every

heart filled with patriotism. The day’s event marked its culmination with a group photograph and refreshment.

Students of class IV C presented a special assembly

on the Father of our Nation ‘Mahatma Gandhi’ on

the thought for the day “When your environment is

clean, you feel happy, motivated and healthy”.

ment. The students staged an enlightening Street Play making everyone aware of the importance of sanitation and

keeping the surroundings clean. They talked about the virtues of maintaining personal hygiene. They all took a

The morning commenced with a teachers’ assembly 'Green Greetings' wherein Lambu, the giraffe was bored

and unhappy to see green all around. He was fancied towards colourful fruits. His teacher then convinced

him with her logical approach saying that all the baby fruits are initially green in colour and turn to other

colours when they grow up.

Not only through mixing of colours, the making of green colour was demonstrated but how the nature has its

own magical way to make the world green (yellow sun and blue water give birth to green trees) was depicted

beautifully. The spelling GREEN was also introduced through the rhyme 'Green is colour you see every-

where'. The stage was decorated with all green objects present in nature, be it fruits, vegetables or animals.

To reinforce this concept, green pencils were provided to the children to do the written work andwere also

involved in lady finger printing activity with the colour green in the figure of tortoise. A caterpillar in the

form of a sticker elevated the joy of the kids. It indeed became a memorable day for them.

class III participated in the event.

In the first phase of the event, the students were enlightened about the different food groups and their

functions. Each day was assigned to a different food group and the students were encouraged to bring

food items belonging to that food group. So we had one day each for Energy giving food, Body Build-

item which they had to bring from home. Sections A & B brought Chole-puri, C & D brought Rajma-

chawal, E & F brought Sandwiches and G & H came with Palak-paneer and Pulao.All these food items

This story plays an important role in everyone’s life. It has been a tool to enhance teaching and learning. Through this

we can build values in children. The tiny tots of class Nursery F enacted the famous story “The lion and the rabbit” on

which depicted the togetherness and happiness of animals. It was followed by the entry of a lion who made the lives of

the animals miserable. The main motive of loving and being together was presented by the kids in the form of dance

“prem se humko jeene do”. At the end of the story rabbit came up with an idea of fooling the lion which lead to his

death. It conveyed a message of helping everyone and was not only relevant to the story but to the present scenario too

and added a social and emotional quotient. The appropriate costumes and perfect makeup gave life to the enactment.

The kids performed with full enthusiasm and justified their roles. The Parents, Headmistress Ms.Pallavi Das and Prin-

cipal, Mr.B.S.Yadav whole heartedly appreciated the efforts of the kids.

“THE LION AND THE RABBIT”

The excitement and celebratory spirit that Diwali brings, is un-

matchable. Diwali is the festival of light which signifies the re-

moval of darkness and ignorance from the mind and filling it with

goodness. The festival was celebrated with great fervour and en-

thusiasm by the little students of class Nursery E on 6 October

on being kind. Kindness of people and others around them brings lasting results. This was well brought out

through the assembly. The parents were invited to witness the assembly.

The class teacher addressed the august gathering and welcomed them. Traditionally every auspicious occa-

sion begins by worshipping Lord Ganesh. So this assembly also commenced with the ‘Ganesh Vandana’, “Ek

Dantaya, Vakratundaya......” presented by a group of students. The foot tapping ‘Ganesh Vandana’ per-

This was followed by inspiring quotes by few students giving the message that one shouldn’t be greedy in life

as ‘Greed Leads to Grief ’. They also emphasised on being honest and kind in life.

Another episode of the assembly was a poem on ‘Happiness’ (Jab bolo tab hans kar bolo...) that expressed

the joy and pride in being honest and happy in life. Next in row, was an enactment which depicted that no act

of kindness goes futile.

The skit was about two brothers who lived in a village. The elder brother was very rich and possessed all the

wealth whereas the younger one was extremely poor. Once the younger brother went for help to his elder

brother but he refused to help. The younger brother became disappointed and went away. On the way he met

an old man who was carrying heavy bags. As he saw the old man he rushed to help him. The old man was

very happy with his small gesture of kindness. In return, the old man gave him a Magical flour mill from
