Hi Neighbor,
Do you work from home? Part-time, full-time or telecommute? Do you sell your creative items that you make in your sewing room, hobby space or your garage? Did you know that doing any of these is in violation of the CCR’s? Crazy isn’t it! We, as a Board, think so, too. So much so, that we believe it is important enough to warrant sending out a special ballot instead of waiting until the August 2016 election.
The CCR’s are our governing documents that were first established in 1973, restated in 1987 and 8.1 states “…NO trade, business, profession, commercial or manufacturing enterprise or activity shall be conducted therein.” If you believe this is behind the times and would like to see a change, the only way to come into the 21st century and embrace the evolving culture of employment is by a majority vote of the membership to amend the CCR’s.
Please go to the website, www.golftwinlakes.com to review the entire proposal including the supporting documentation, stop by the office to review and/or discuss with Kevin or call any Board member for an informative conver-sation. You will receive the ballot package by mail in October. But please, if you are able, we request you use one of the other mentioned avenues to cast your ballot earlier especially if you’re planning to head south. All the best, Sara PS. We’ve established an Ad-Hoc Com-mittee to address and possibly update other antiquated sections of the CCR’s. If you know of a particular passage or would like to share your opinions, Carole’ Jenness is the Chair and I know she would be all-too-happy to discuss with you.
At the last Board Meeting, the process and policy in dealing with delinquent or late payment of dues was modified by the
Board of Directors. The full policy can be found on page 19 of the Policy and Procedures, now posted on the TLV WEB site.
Following in short is the process: 1. $10 late fee is charged on the 10th of
the month.
2. A notification letter sent by the 15th requesting payment, and if not, requesting your appearance at the next Board Meeting.
3. Member privileges, including golf, will be suspended immediately following that next Board meeting if no payment is received.
4. At 60 days, the account is reported to Credit Reporting Bureaus which will affect personal credit ratings.
5. 100 days delinquent, a lien will be filed and a fee of $250.00 charged.
6. At 120 days delinquent, a claim will be filed in small claims court and a $250.00 administrative fee will be charged.
7. At 180 days delinquent, the account may be referred to a collection agency.
8. At 210 days delinquent, the account may be turned over to our attorney for foreclosure.
Any fees or legal fees incurred throughout this process will be added to the amounts owed as provided in the TLV CCRs.
This move stiffens the process to collect delinquent dues. While most of our members prepay their dues or pay promptly, there are a few who don’t place as high a priority on the practice of prompt payment of their obligations.
Those of you who may be behind on the dues payments will be hearing from the staff soon. If you ever have questions about your accounts or account balances, all of us in the office are available to review your account with you. There are a variety of ways to auto pay your dues and we can help with that as well. We also have the option of online credit card payments.
When you pay on time, it helps to maintain dues levels and you avoid all the hassles.

TLV MEMBER-GUEST TOURNAMENT
WAS A SUCCESS FOR ALL
The Member-Guest Committee would like to thank all of those who
participated in the Member-Guest Golf Tournament on August 8th and 9th.
With the generous donations from sponsors, the help from volunteers, the
staff in the pro shop, the golf course, the restaurant, and the office, and of
course all the players, we will be donating $6,500 to Hospice of North
Idaho this year! Additionally, the tournament contributed $10,450 in
tournament fees to our pro shop (not including merchandise) and $4,500
to The Turn Bar and Grill (not including the drinks from the bar).
Congratulations to all who participated. You are not only helping a very
worthy cause, but you are keeping our village strong and prosperous.
The Member-Guest Committee is dedicated to continue the work
necessary to not only run the tournament, but to see its continual growth
in order to benefit Hospice of North Idaho. With that in mind, we would
like all who play in this tournament to help us keep it growing. We have
heard comments that some players will no longer participate because of
perceived “handicap inequities”. We want you to know that, as a
committee, we made several phone calls before the tournament to confirm
that handicaps were correct; if we thought they were not, we tried to find
ways to make them right. All to no avail. We cannot regulate honesty and
integrity. That’s where you, the players, come in. It is up to you to post
all scores in a timely manner, even those you think might change your
handicap. It is up to you to post your 9-hole scores, your 18-hole scores,
your bad scores, your good scores, your okay scores, all your scores.
That’s how this great tournament will continue to be fair for all and to stay
strong and viable. For those of you that post your scores correctly, thank
you. We want this tournament to endure, to help Hospice of North Idaho,
and to keep our village healthy.

Twin Lakes Village Pickleball Club
September News
Pickleball seems to be one of the fastest growing sports in TLV. We are up to 16 members and the list is happily growing. We are meeting at 6 pm Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday (on Green Ct) but the time will be changing as the sun is setting sooner and sooner over the mountains to the west.
We want to welcome Doug and Michelle Sowers, new residents to TLV and great fun to play with on the pickleball court.
We took a Saturday trip to Stoneridge that was great fun and a real lesson in pickleball competition. Stoneridge just built eight new pickleball courts and they have a very nice facility. There were four courts busy with some very fine pickleball players. The players were owners, guests, renters and several had driven down from Newport. Stoneridge is actively seeking players to join their Pickleball Club and hoping to build the club up to 100 members. There are also pickleball courts at the time share units and it was also very busy on the Saturday morning. Stoneridge feels
that the pickleball frenzy has real marketing potential and they intend to advertise the facilities and activities they are supporting.
We intend to schedule another trip to Stoneridge very soon.
If you have any questions or would like to try the sport out, we will be happy to meet you at the court and let you give it a try. If you have played handball, racquet ball, tennis or have been active in any sport you will find pickleball is easy to pickup and great fun to play. The club has paddles, balls and members anxious to show you the basics. Applications for membership are available at the court. Ron Jackson Gary Crandall Jan Hilling

a result of his pressure suit.

Our newest scholarship recipients, Merissa
Draughon, Steven Trantham and Austin
Malloy have now stepped over the threshold
of higher education with excitement and
probably a fair amount of trepidation as they
anticipate what lies ahead of each of them in the
next four or five years. We as a committee and
the people who live in Twin Lakes Village wish
each of them well!
The committee’s main business has now been
“put to bed” for the year after making some
small changes in our scholarship application and
scoring rubric; however we continue to design a
waiver allowing us to publish articles in the TLV
newsletter and local newspapers with the
scholarship recipients’ names, information and
pictures. Our aim is to protect the students in all
ways possible and we are working with the local
school district, looking for examples.
Very soon the stage will be set for next year’s
program to get underway when our scholarship
application will be emailed to the Near-Peer
teams at each of the Lakeland School District
high schools and hard copies delivered as
back-ups. The applications for the 2015-2016
school year will be picked up in April 2016 then
the committee work will begin again.
The committee would like to take this
opportunity to thank the residents who choose to
continue donating to the Twin Lakes Village
scholarship fund. Because of their generosity
and those who supported the golf package the
Activities Committee put together, in addition to
the mini-post project Don Hilling designed, we
will have enough money to support the three
scholarships next year. Without everyone’s
support, there wouldn’t be an on-going scholar-
ship program for our school district’s outstand-
ing students. The program was established in the
mid to late 1990’s and it is our hope that we can
continue awarding these scholarships to our
communities’ children.

TREES...AND MORE TREES
The entrance to TLV is our first opportunity to make a great impression on visiting
golfers and potential new members. As a result of generous member donations, there
are beautiful maple & flowering pear trees in the median on the Boulevard. They were
planted in phases to assure their stability and have thrived in this environment.
Now is the time to continue planting the remaining sections of the median, so the trees mature at
roughly the same pace. Twenty-one trees are needed to complete this project and the funds are not
available in the budget. Each tree costs $150 and we’re asking members to contribute any amount
they choose towards the “Village Boulevard “Trees” Fund. Many enhancements at TLV are the
result of the generosity of our members, which benefit the whole community. Please support this
tradition by making a donation to this very worthy fund.
