September Tastes Delectable on the River Walk

Welcome to the San Antonio River Walk! The calendar may say it’s fall, but the temperaturenever says “fall” in San Antonio until October at the earliest! So, enjoy our Indian summer on theRiver Walk, where it’s always cooler than on the streets above.

September brings one of our most popular events all year long – The Bud Light Taste of theRiver Walk Tuesday, September 10th through Thursday, September 12th! Imagine having theopportunity to sample delectable menu items from over 40 restaurants! With different establish-ments each night, you can feast even more! This is one event your taste buds won’t want to miss!

We hope you enjoy your time on the RiverWalk, and will come back soon and often! Our staff ishere to help, so please let us know if you have any concerns, questions, or compliments.

Remember-please don’t feed the ducks or pigeons! Feeding the wildlife creates more waste inour beautiful river, so help us keep it clean and let the ducks and birds fend for themselves!

See you on the Rio!Nancy D. Hunt

Most printing companies only do a couple of different things.Créer-Believe, however, is a jack of all trades. A full-service signageand graphic solutions company, Créer-Believe does much morethan simply take orders and print products— it brings ideas to life.

Specializing in printing, large format printing, design and installation, marketing, moving signs, stage props, advertising andPOP printing, the company also has a top of the line, acousticallytreated, in-house recording studio and prides itself on being a onestop shop that readily accepts new challenges. With a client basethat ranges from churches to corporations and from private accounts to federal government, Créer-Believe operates out of an open, loft style production area with wall prints of iconic San Antonio views overlooking the room.

Independently owned and operated by a Hispanic woman, thecompany is a certified HUB (statewide historically underutilizedbusiness program) and has certifications from SMSDC (southwestminority supplier development council) and SBA (U.S. small business administration). “Certifications help us with companiesthat are looking to diversify in their purchasing,” said owner SusanMossberger. “8(a) is a prestigious certification that we have receivedfrom the Small Business Administration. They checked everythingabout us to make sure we’re a viable business and that when theygive us the stamp of approval, we can maintain their standards ofexcellence.”

Créer-Believe’s long list of products and materials includescrim vinyl, mesh, corrugated plastic, wall graphics and more.“We really strive for excellence in customer service. We are dedicated to quality, that’s why all of our machines are color managed and we have the best equipment on the marketplace,”said Mossberger.

By Ashley Vasquez

“We have everything,” Mossberger continued. “We even havea flatbed printer so we can print directly onto materials— the conventional materials such as canvass and vinyl, but also acrylic, ceramic, tile, or a door. It’s a very special machine because it alsohas light ink, which a lot of those machines don’t.” The North StarMall, SeaWorld, the San Antonio Museum of Art, the U.S. AirForce and Christus Santa Rosa are just a few of the noteworthyclients. The company also did the floor graphics for the Final Four.

Créer-Believe believes in giving back to the community and hasjumped to the forefront of the school bus advertising program. Sinceschool districts throughout Texas are facing a budget deficit, the program is a way to potentially raise an estimated $300,000 annually and avoid cutting school programs, services and staff members. Any local or national company can pay to display school-appropriate advertisements on the sides of buses, which travel 600square miles and pass by just about everyone in the community.

Visit the company at 10919 Wurzbach Road or check outcreer--believe.com for pictures of recent projects.

Behind the bar at Bohanan’s, Andy Hack meticulously handcarves cocktail ice ball number 32 of the day. The freezing temperature of the ice serves as a subtle reminder of his first bartending days at Moosecreek Saloon in Alaska more than twoyears ago. After intense training into craft cocktails, he is now anintegral part of the bar team, led by Jake Corney.

“Bohanans, home of the San Antonio Cocktail Conference, isone of the bars where many of San Antonio’s best bartenders havecome out from. We use only fresh ingredients, and we are pushedto be creative,” shares Andy.

Now in sunny San Antonio, Andy draws inspiration from thelocal culture, and from his team. “Chef Heather helps us bartendersbecome better. She gives input into the cocktail we are creating;and the fact she makes in-house bitters, also make our cocktailsmore unique.”

In search of a “taste that would be unique to my palate,” Andybegan playing with agave nectar, and chose to pair this naturalsweetener with silver tequila.

Sabroso• 2oz Milagro Tequila Silver• ¾ oz agave nectar (lighter color)• ¾ oz fresh squeezed persian lime juice• 2 dashes Falernum bitters• 1 mint leafShake the tequila, agave nectar and lime juice in a boston

shaker with fresh ice. Strain and serve up in a coupe glass, addFalernum dashes over top. Finish with a clapped mint leaf.
