Good day all, Summer is coming to an end and a great year continues for the LRBC. We completed our first year in our new building on August twenty second as well as celebrating our twenty-seventh anniversary as a dance club. Also, we changed the name of our annual dance party. Lots has happened in one year and it continues to get better. Rock City Swing, or “RCS”, formerly Bop in the Rock, is right around the corner, October 3-5. We will have the usual stellar cast of instructors and DJ’s and are looking at a full sellout this year. One thing we’re trying this year are both one day passes and single night passes. Day passes can be booked online but the night passes are available at the door only. We will post regular updates on Facebook with party information.

Our annual election for club officers is set for October 16th. If you have an interest in serving on the Board of Directors, please see any current Board member and let them know what you may be interested in. The positions of President, VP, Treasurer, Secretary, and Parliamentarian are all open. The appointed positions (by the Board) are admissions/membership, arts & entertainment, communications (newsletter), and director at large if needed. Yes, We Have Competitors In Our Midst!! Richard Davis

The LRBC is fortunate to count in its membership a number of dancers who represent us well in dance competitions held around the country. When the awards are given out, we often are well represented. Formerly, Ziege was often a winner at Ballroom competitions, while Tim Acosta and Jordan Sims, along with a cadre of West Coast dancers, (too many to list here) are representing us well in Dallas, Tulsa, Austin, etc., etc. Their winning accomplishments are many. We are indeed proud of them. More recently, members Casey Barker and Dolores Sims are competing and winning at Country Dance competitions. In Austin recently, Dolores took second place in the Silver level ProAm division dancing with Daniel Felts. In response, Casey placed second in the Bronze ProAm division, dancing with Abby Robertson. In the Couples Division 3 Open, Casey and Dolores won First Place. They also won Second Place in the Couples Bronze division. They send special thanks to Daniel Felts and Abby Robertson for their hard work in helping achieving their goals. There is a group photo on page 8. While she is neither a member (yet), nor a competitor, we were recently graced with a masterful performance at our Luau Party by Katie Sunshine and her Hula Hoops. Watching her perform is truly an experience not to be missed. I recently saw her perform at another event and knew she would be ideal for our party. After I literally pounced (Ziege and Kay Ford were there also), she graciously consented to perform for us last Wednesday. If you missed it, she will be the opening dance act at Dreamland Ballroom’s “Tournament of Champions” held Friday, November 15. Performance photos are on page 8. We are extremely proud of our competing members and wish them well.
