Our Heavenly Rest Neighborhood How can we better interact with those who live around us? The neighborhood is where we live, but who are our neighbors? What are the gifts of our neighbors? What are the needs of our neighbors—a worship place, a learning place, a quiet place, a community meeting place? How do we say, “Mi casa es su casa?” If you have ideas, time, talent, love, let’s get together and EHJLQWRHVWDEOLVKVSHFL¿FRSSRUWXQLWLHVHYHQWVDFWLYLWLHVRUSURMHFWVWRJHQXLQHO\JHWWRNQRZand serve the neighbors of The Church of the Heavenly Rest. There are endless possibilities and ways we might genuinely become a community of caring families in our local neighborhood, in Abilene, and in the world. The process of knowing anyone can be a long and slow process, but as Christians we have hope. Hope is patient. And we have the long standing tradition of Christian monasteries taking in strangers as if they were Christ. Opening our doors and our hearts to all is the way we turn a prejudiced world around, one heart at a time. If you are “committed to establishing partnerships with all who live in our community and believe that, only through those partnerships, are we given opportunities to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ,” the Neighborhood Committee wants you! opportunities of tomorrow. We are grateful to all who
