Political News
September 10th
is set to be the D-day for the 3rd
reading of the charter amendment.
Bhumjai Thai party that has said that it may not vote for the amendments, saw its
party leader Anutin Charnvirakul, say that the guidelines for voting on the 3rd
reading of constitution amendment on September 10th
to be the privilege of the
MPs and that there is no directive from the party to vote for it or against it.
He said that if the constitution is to be amended, it must be beneficial to
the people and not amended to benefit political parties or politicians.
The Democrat party leader Jurin Laksanawisit, spoke about the news that the
senators threatened to vote to overturn the draft constitutional amendment saying
that one should look at the voting results from the 1st and 2
nd readings.
If everything goes like this, then the 3rd
reading should pass, unless there
is a new condition and once it passes it could help lower the political
temperatures.
The situation of the passage of the 3rd
reading is likely to keep everyone on their toes
with the senators likely to vote in favor.
There is need of at least 84 votes from the senators to be able to pass this bill in its
final reading.
Senator Kittisak Ratanawaraha, said that the vote on the draft constitutional
amendment agenda 3 looks promising and thinks that the senator should pass
more than one third or 84 votes, although there are people who oppose it, but the
vote is not enough.
The Cabinet yesterday was the 1st full face-to-face meeting after 5-months of video
conference.
Yesterday was also the 1st time that the cabinet ministers met with each other after
the no-confidence debate and after the reports emerged of a major crack in the
Phalang Pracharat party that was looking to support the moves by heroin
trafficking Thammanat Prompan.
Thammanat and Interior Minister Anupong Paochinda were seen shaking hands as
a way to make up for the rumors of Thammanat looking to take over the post of
the Interior Ministry.
The ongoing conflict in the PPRP seems to be continuing to thrive as the 4 ministers in
the breakaway faction of what is being called as ‘4 Chor’ held their meeting at various
places and its leader Thammanat has asked for a place where these 4 ministers could hold
their meetings in the future.
Members of the ‘4 Chor’ group includes the likes of
Capt. Thammanat
Santi Prompat
Narumon Pinyosinwat, deputy labor minister
Atirat Ratanaset, Deputy Minister of Transport, who is the son of Wirat
Ratanaset, the government whip and a deputy leader of the PPRP
It is reported that Santi Prompat has left this ‘4 Chor’ group so there is only 3
remining.
At the expected meeting on September 9th
is suspected that even Deputy Prime
Minister and head of PPRP – Prawit Wongsuwon, is expected to attend the
meeting.
Meanwhile the daily ‘Car Mob’ protest continued to take place at Asoke junction where
hundreds of people gathered.
The Car Mob that is led by Nattawut Saikua, the former leader of the Red Shirt
movement, said that today’s event would be ‘Bike Mob’.
The plan is to continue to have daily smaller events and then bigger ones on
weekends.
A big rally is planned for Sunday September 19th
which marks the 15th
anniversary of the 2006 coup that ousted Thaksin Shinawatra from power.
Maveric parliamentarian – Chada Thaised, a Bhumjai Thai party MP from Uthai Thani
province, came out to say on his social media page that 2014 coup leader and current
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha should not listen to his current advisors because they
are giving him the wrong advice.
Chada, who is famous for being abrasive and gangster type, came out to say that
as a Prime Minister, Prayut should not be working from home but instead should
be going out to visit people who are suffering.
Chada said that Prayut should go out and to communities and field hospitals to see
how things are being done instead of sitting in the Government House or his
home.
