COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS

Learn the culinary secrets of some of the region’s best chefs. In the past, our

guests have included veterans from Hell’s Kitchen, Chef Wanted, Chopped, Iron Chef,

and other culinary television programs. We’ve also featured executive chefs from the Hudson Valley’s best restaurants. We

offer cooking demonstrations all weekend and access to the demos is included in

your Food Festival admission.


Chef Roshni Gurnani

2009 Food Network Chopped Champion Roshni Gurnani is a native of Canada. Roshni has always been interested and passionate about food. Since the tender age of seven she wanted to be a chef and her career began at the age of 13. She started her path to becoming a chef at a local diner, bussing tables and prepping vegetables. After graduating from The Culinary Institute of Canada, Roshni began her travels around the world to gain knowledge and experience in different cultures and foods. She has cooked in five-star hotels, country clubs, restaurants, colleges, and private homes in Asia, the UK, Canada, and the US.

Today Roshni is a highly innovative and passionate chef with over 15 years of industry experience. She has a unique fusion style of cooking, blending different cultures together. Her hard work and dedication has brought her to where she is today. When she isn’t traveling the world, Roshni is a Culinary Professor at the Art Institute of America in Houston, Texas. She is also a chef consultant and private chef. She feels, “There is never an end to flavors and food. Food is a journey not a destination.”

Chef Marcus Giuliano

Chef Marcus Giuliano is the Chef/Owner of Aroma Thyme Bistro, a Hudson Valley farm-to-table restaurant in Ellenville, NY. Chef Marcus has mastered the ability to turn natural, whole food into something beautiful and flavorful. Aroma Thyme Bistro offers an innovative menu of focused, natural cuisine that reflects balance and well-being. Guiliano’s consistent objective is to create meals that achieve impact through focusing on pure ingredients and limiting manipulation.

Aroma Thyme Bistro opened in 2003. Being green-minded since day one, Aroma Thyme was the first Certified Green Restaurant in upstate New York. The restaurant is all about supporting local, but beyond that they pride themselves in small, independent brands from all over the globe.

Marcus Guiliano is an award-winning chef who was named “One of the Five Top Food Activists Making a Change” from One Green Planet. This award, along with many others, is evident from the gourmet sustainable, socially responsible cuisine Aroma Thyme serves. The restaurant has also been flooded with awards ranging from “Best New Restaurant,” “Best Organic Restaurant,” “Best Beer Events,” Wine Spectator Award Winning Wine List‚ and Trip Advisor’s number one restaurant in their area. Chef Vincent Tropepe

A longtime friend of the Hudson Valley Wine & Food Fest, Chef Vincent Tropepe is a Brooklyn, NY native. His deep Italian roots as well as the influence of his grandmothers have inspired him to become a chef. Vincent Tropepe has worked in every avenue of the food business. From prep cook to dishwasher, line cook to sous chef as well as executive chef in some of the country’s top restaurants. He has also had his work featured in numerous newspapers, magazines, online magazines, and blogs. Vincent is also a published cookbook author with his first release titled, “From Behind the Kitchen Doors.”

Vincent holds 13 different culinary certifications and seven managerial and business certifications.

Chef Dana Johnson

Chef Dana Johnson has been relishing food since 2000.

For the last 14 years, she has owned and operated restaurants in both Greene and Columbia Counties. Just this past year, she opened Relish Delights at 291 Main Street in Catskill, NY. Arlyn Osborne is a Recipe Developer for The Food Network and has appeared on Genius Kitchen and Spoon University, their millennial sister brands. She also hosts the YouTube channel, The Millennial Kitchen.

Arlyn is a member of the Culinary Historians of New York. She is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute in New York City and has worked with Amazon, Food & Wine magazine, Spoon University, The James Beard Foundation, NBC, and more.

Arlyn lives in the Hudson Valley with her husband and can be spotted at a local farmer's market almost every weekend.

Debbie Gioquindo

Join the Hudson Valley Wine Goddess herself, Debbie Gioquindo, to learn about wine and wine pairings on our demo stage.

Debbie Gioquindo aims to take the intimidation out of wine. She wants people to feel comfortable walking into a wine store to purchase a bottle based on what they like in a wine, enjoy it, and share it with friends. In her reviews, Debbie gives a little history on the wine, winery, and/or region. She is honest and straight forward and speaks to her audience as if discussing the topic at a cocktail party. Debbie also shares her wine pairings and recipes.

Debbie’s blog is featured in The Poughkeepsie Journal. She is a contributing writer for Hudson Valley Wine magazine, and author of Tapping the Hudson Valley: Day Trips & Weekend Itineraries Visiting the Wineries, Breweries, Cideries & Distilleries in the Hudson Valley and the Sites Along the Way.

Debbie is chairperson of The Hudson Valley Wine & Spirits Competition. She teaches wine appreciation in person and online and is a consultant with craft beverage producers and small businesses. Debbie is a wife and mother of two wonderful children and is proud to say that they too have an appreciation of wine. Debbie likes to cook, travel, fish, boat, and downhill ski.

ABOUT THE COVER ARTISTOur cover art and this year’s commemorative poster were created by artist Ann Elizabeth Schlegel. A longtime friend of the Fest who has created our souvenir poster art for many years, Ann is primarily an oil painter. Traveling to Paris to further her knowledge of 19th century art, she studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. She has painted in the south of France and Giverny, home of Claude Monet. She was the first American resident artist in Antibes, France. Ann Elizabeth Schlegel has recently relocated her studio to Studio 740, 740 West Hamilton Street in Allentown, PA.
