The Martyrs of Africa , pray for us. September 6, 2019 A.M.D.G. The Martyrs of Africa Friday, September 6, 2019 Put the emphasis on CHARITY! How can we use the bible to describe the Ville de Marie Academy family? For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.First Corinthians 12:12 If the school is a family, then each class represents a unique part of that family and has the ability to form a tighter bond or spirit from within. This is very important in keeping unity and allowing all to be involved. On the playground we can hear the yell, Thats not fair”, or How come I cant play with you”. Kids learn at an early age about a sense of justice. They also know that it is wrong to treat others poorly, exclude others, or stage a game so they can win. These same values then transfer to the other social arenas of life, whether it be home, work, or social gatherings. These basic truths are what make up the Catholic Social Teachings and address the most fundamental questions of human coexistence – Who are we? What do we owe another person? How do we live together? The Church has developed great wisdom in this area over the past 2000 years. The more we take to heart these basic attitudes and wisdoms, and apply them to our daily lives, the better we will serve the Kingdom of God. How do we as a community of like-minded faithful Catholics apply the social teachings of Christ so that we are constantly making a conscience effort to involve our whole class. To truly be the family of Christ we must think of promoting the common good and fostering an all-inclusive spirit. Can this ideal be taught to our children? It must be modeled by the adults in their lives and encouraged at all times. Modeling Charity for our children Seeking those not involved and engaging them to participate Inviting the whole class or only all of the same gender to an activity Bringing in treats for the entire class Allowing others to be involved in your closest friend groups Allowing someone else to go first Disputing disagreements in private Loving all people patiently, kindly, not with envy, boasting or pride What saint this week reminds us most of the virtue of charity – Saint Teresa of Calcutta She even started the Sisters of Charity! Put the emphasis on CHARITY! How can we use the bible to describe the Ville de Marie Academy family?

“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.”

First Corinthians 12:12 If the school is a family, then each class represents a unique part of that family and has the ability to form a tighter bond or spirit from within. This is very important in keeping unity and allowing all to be involved. On the playground we can hear the yell, ‘That’s not fair”, or “How come I can’t play with you”. VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

We appreciate the help of all our parents in fulfilling the service hour requirement. We ask that all volun-teers be certified through the Diocese of Phoenix Safe Environment Program. Effective July 1, 2019, a new database for training and background check was rolled out. Volunteers that have already received this training are also required to renew it annually through this new website:

http://www.phoenix.cmgconnect.org

For those volunteers who have not taken this training and want to volunteer, please go through this training in your own (Diocese of Phoenix) parishes.

Please remember to send your student with a refillable water bottle; especially during these HOT beginning months.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE….

“Failure to pick students up on time will result in families being charged $5.00 per child after 3:45 pm unless notified in advance due to an emergency.” Payment is due upon pick-up.

Calling on all teachers and parents that take any pictures, especially at sporting events or field trips, to send them to me. Even pictures taken on phones are great! You can email them or even just text them to Emily. [email protected] or (602) 595-7998. Thanks!
