    tory by claiming The Smithfield

    In the championship match, broadcast

live on CBS Sports Network, McEwan

    defeated Stefanie Johnson of Grand

Prairie, Texas, 233-205, at the International

the 10th to secure her second title of the

season and PWBA Player of the Year

    honors.

"After the first one, I thought it

was just a bad break and that it

would be fine," McEwan said. "The

second one really bothered me. I

threw away the wood on the spare,

which was not smart. After that I

calmed down and made sure that pin

didn't hurt me at the end of the

    match."

Johnson's first shot in the 10thwent through the head pin, leaving a

7-10 split, to give the 24-year-old

    right-hander the title and $20,000

    top prize.

"Everyone saw how emotional I got,

and I'm usually not like that," McEwan

said. "It's been a long year, and I'm so

grateful to have the opportunity. It's

good to see how everything I've

Liz Johnson, a USBC Hall of

    Famer, captured three titles,

    including the United States

    Bowling Congress Queens and

    Bowlmor AMF U.S. Women's

Open, during the 2015 season and

led all competitors in points, earn-ings and wins to take home the

award for the first time in her sto-

    ried career.

"It has been an incredible 2015

season," Liz Johnson said. "I did-

n't think at the beginning of the

    year that something like this

    would have happened. It's just

been an amazing year, and I really

worked hard for everything I got.

    Hopefully there's more to come."

    Stefanie Johnson captured her

first title at the PWBA Wichita

Open in July, and led the tour in

    cashes and match-play appear-

    ances.

    "It's a dream come true,"

    Stefanie Johnson said. "Just to

have this opportunity to bowl with

the best of the best and continue to

put myself in position to win was

amazing, and to win Rookie of theYear has been the icing on the

    cake."

    PWBA members qualified for

    the Tour Championship by either

winning a title during the 2015

    season or earning enough compe-

tition points. All 2015 PWBA Tour

    champions (who were members at

the time of their victory) received

an automatic invitation to the Tour

    Championship, and the remainder

of the 16-player field was filled

out through the PWBA points list.

LANESTori Boughton 259LAKEWOOD, NJ – Tori

Boughton led the scoring in the

Scratch Trio League firing a high

game of 259.Kamerin Peters rolled 258, Nick

Striffer 255, Tyler Wolfe 248, and

Brett Downs and Nick Gross 247.

    In the Junior Classic League

    Sean Huston shot 191, Jessica

    Kling and Angel Gonzalez 190,

    Emma Meyer 184, Andrea Meyer

    182, and Vinnie Carusso 181.

    Adah Christian shot 179, Leah

    Varella 163, Blaise Harringotn

158, and Emily Hehir 156 in the

    Pin Hitters League.

Despite traffic and the usual lunatics on the road, we found Majestic

Lanes in Hopelawn and checked in for the Garden State Games. This

year’s shirts were a nice bright orange, reminiscent of my Dover High

School Days. Once the event got started, we looked like a sea of

    Syracuse University athletes.

Volunteers headed by Joyce Brokling ran the tournament. My person-

al goals of having fun and seeing old friends and meeting new ones were

all met quickly. I was fortunate to be crossing with encouraging women

who also wanted to have fun, and had no higher expectations.

Some of our friends not only won their divisions, but also some addi-tional honors. Mike Potoski posted high scratch series (6 games) for

men at 1477, qualifying him for the Governor’s Cup for men. Linda

Rose, North Arlington, took honors for women with 1170.

The Shirlee Kutzner award for the scholastic bowler posting most pins

over average for the six games went to Francis Vitelli, Annandale with

plus 172. Other Morris county standouts were: Scholastic Boys with

averages 186 and over, Zachary Vitelli, Annandale, gold. Scholastic

Girls, averaging 176 and over, Rhianna Smith, Budd Lake, gold. Boys

Scholastic, 171-185 average, Francis Vitelli, gold. Men’s regular, 196

average and over, Mike Potoski, Sparta, gold. Female, regular, 186 aver-

age and over, Samantha Pearson, Oxford, bronze. Men’s regular, 181-

195 average, Jeffrey Kiss, East Hanover, bronze. Female regular, 140

average and under, Joan Schliewenz, silver.

If there could be any criticism, it would be for the handful of medal-

ists who didn’t stay for their ceremony. It would also be for people who

did not participate, missing a nice event. The other downside was not

finding signs to point us in the right direction to find Rt. 287 north todrive home.

Joyce and her team did a great job of keeping the tournament running

smoothly. It’s nice to see how far technology has come for this event

with a friendly computer that facilitated posting the mid-tournament and

    then the final standings quickly.

I am looking forward to next year with my same goals already in place.

I wonder what color my tee shirt will be.

To our customers at the Parkway Lanes, 200 Route 46, Elmwood Park, N.J.:

There continues to be a number of rumors circling around the industry about our business. We had our Financial Consultant address the league officers recently and he attempted to

provide information first to the league members and second to our loyal customers. At thismeeting he disclosed confidential information with the attempt of gaining trust in thestatement that all of our leagues and parties are secure in the thought of using our facilityas their Bowling Center. We have been working hard over the past 8 years to provide ourcustomers the best and most comfortable bowling alley in Bergen County.

We mentioned in our meeting that we have been approached by several entities interestedin purchasing our business. We have been approached by more than a dozen viable entitieswith the interest of purchasing Parkway Lanes in the past three years, however in each casewe have chosen to hold on to it ourselves, in spite of economic challenges.

In all the possible scenarios, we will be f inancially secure for this season and manyseasons to come, as promised.

For those of you who have businesses or business experiences, you will know that aChapter 11 filing allows a business to operate but it also exposes the business to totaltransparency which means anyone who has an interest in buying our business must bedisclosed to the public. It does not mean, in fact a sale or transfer of ownership will takeplace.

The partners of Parkway Lanes have invested more than a million dollars of their hardearned money to maintain and keep their business responsible.

We are using this advertisement for one purpose and one purpose only. We wanteveryone to feel comfortable about having a bowling house that they can trust, and so weare asking you publicly to accept our commitment to remain in business for many years tocome.

We take this opportunity to thank all of our patrons, our league members, and ourcustomers who have enjoyed using our facility as their Birthday party house and their
