Many students will say that FBHS has THOUSANDS of rules.

Truthfully, we have many rules; some of which we will discuss in detail today.

In reality, if you remember three basic school mantras, you will navigate through FBHS with great ease and success.

Be respectful. Whether you like someone or not, being

respectful is a basic skill for earning the respect of others.

How you treat people will determine how other people will treat you.

Be prepared. Be prepared for school every day. The amount

of effort you invest in your education will determine the success you achieve at FBHS.

Work hard. The only true magic in this world is hard work.

If you can train yourself to be a hard worker, you will find all things are possible.

“Please” and “thank you” are the very first respectful words we learn as children. Don’t forget their power as you become young adults.

When you speak to someone, maintain eye contact and positive body language.

When someone is speaking to you, don’t talk, but listen with eye contact and positive body language.

Manners matter. Using good manners is the best way to let others know you are a respectful person. Remembering to use good manners will take you far in life.

Every human being requires fuel for optimal performance. Would you drive a car with an empty fuel tank? Of course not! Eat healthy foods BEFORE you come to school so that your mind and body are prepared to learn.

Being prepared for each of your classes is your job. Complete assignments, bring the required materials to class, and adhere to deadlines. Don’t expect your teachers to bend the rules because you didn’t do your job. Take responsibility for your education and your life. This is part of becoming an adult.

Hard work is a skill ALL people are capable of mastering. This means working through difficult challenges and not giving up on an assignment because you think it takes too long. Your ability to work hard will determine your high school and adult achievements.

Your reputation is based on your work ethic and how you behave. When you work hard and establish the reputation of being reliable, responsible, and hard working, your name will hold respect in the minds of all who know you. Decide today what your name will mean to your future employers – dedicated or dead weight?

Keep your hands to yourself. Any inappropriate physical contact is grounds for immediate suspension and may lead to expulsion.

Possession or use of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco at school is grounds for immediate suspension and may lead to expulsion.

Any type of gang glorification or affiliation at school is strictly prohibited and is grounds for immediate suspension and may lead to expulsion.

Cheating, plagiarism, and any other form of academic dishonesty will result in immediate disciplinary action.

Adhere to the dress code. It is non-negotiable.

Keep pocket knives at home. Even though we live in a rural area and pocket knives are commonplace, any student caught with any kind of knife at school will immediately be suspended for five days and could face possible expulsion. It’s the law – no knives on a school campus.

Stay off the baseball field and stay out of Timberwolf Stadium during break and lunch. These areas are off-limits during these times unless under teacher supervision.

Stay out of the construction zones!! Moving fences and walking within the construction zones will result in immediate disciplinary action.

Keep your cell phone and other electronic devices turned off. You may only use these items during break and lunch. Many of you walk right in front of the office during passing periods. Keep your phone and music devices off and out of sight!! If you use any of these devices during the passing period or during class time, expect them to be confiscated.

1st offense = warning 2nd offense = detention 3rd offense = Saturday School 4th offense = suspension

Be on-time to class. 3 tardies = Detention5 tardies = Saturday School 7 tardies = Suspension (in-house or off campus)

Keep PDA (public displays of affection) clean and respectful to all around you.

FBHS is a closed campus, except during lunch. You may not leave campus during break or in between classes.

Go to all your classes every day. If you accumulate more than 15 absences in ANY class, you will not earn any credit for that class even if you have a passing grade.

Be sure you bring your planner, binder, paper, and pencil to school with you every day.

Join a club, sport, or intramural team at FBHS. The more you involve yourself in school life, the more you will enjoy school.

Maintain a 2.0 grade point average and don’t fail any classes. Regardless of GPA, if you have two or more “F” grades, you are academically ineligible. You can’t participate in extra-curricular activities if you don’t have the grades.

Visit the counseling office. If you are confused or have questions about any part of FBHS life, the counseling office is a great place to find answers.
