    Dear St. Albert Family,

“America the Beautiful! Yes, America, you are beautiful indeed, and blessed in so many ways...but your greatest beauty and your richest blessing is found in the human person: in each man, wom-an and child, in every immigrant, in every native-born son and daughter.

For this reason, America, your deepest identity and truest charac-ter as a nation is revealed in the position you take towards the hu-man person. The ultimate test of your greatness in the way you treat every human being, but especially the weakest and most de-fenceless ones.

The best traditions of your land presume respect for those who cannot defend themselves. America, defend life! All the great caus-es that are yours today will have meaning only to the extent that you guarantee the right to life and protect the human person:

    - feeding the poor and welcoming refugees; - reinforcing the social fabric of this nation; - promoting the true advancement of women; - securing the rights of minorities; - pursuing disarmament, while guaranteeing legitimate defence;

all this will succeed only if respect for life and its protection by the law is granted to every human being from conception until natural death.

Every human person - no matter how vulnerable or helpless, no matter how young or how old, no matter how healthy, handi-capped or sick, no matter how useful or productive for society - is a being of inestimable worth created in the image and likeness of God. This is the dignity of America..... to respect every human person, especially the weakest and most defenseless ones, those as yet unborn.”

Let these words form our consciences as Catholic American Vot-ers at this critical time.

    Peace,

    Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to re-ceive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment re-ceive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separat-ed from you. Amen

    Act of Perfect Contrition

Father of mercy, like the prodigal son I return to you and say: "I have sinned against you and am no longer worthy to be called your child." Christ Jesus, Savior of the world, I pray with the repentant thief to whom you promised Paradise: "Lord, remember me in your kingdom." Holy Spirit, fountain of love, I call on you with trust: "Purify my heart, and help me to walk as a child of light. "

    Frequently Asked Questions:

    What is a Blessings Bag?

A Blessings Bag is a bag of specific items donated and put together in a bag by a volunteer, a care pack age of sorts. It may be as simple as a gallon zip lock bag with travel size toiletries for the Westside Cath olic Center, or it may be a bag of non-perishable food items for families of Metro Catholic school chil dren, or it may be a bingo snack bag for a nursing home. The filled donated bags will be collected on Friday, October 9th or Saturday, October 10th of Parish Service Day weekend.

What kind of bag should I provide for my Blessings Bag donation?

Most of the theme Blessings Bag items will fit into a simple & small Dollar Store gift bag. Blessings Bag themes with food items would require a larger handle ‘shopping bag .

Should I label my Blessings Bag with the name of the agency that is receiving it?

YES, labeling will insure that it will get to the correct agency.

Can I sign-up for more than one project?

YES. Many of the projects are quite small, such as 1 snack bag for a nursing home. You may, and we would love it if you would sign-up for more than one. This is particularly true for the “Thinking of You” cards to be delivered to our elderly in various nursing facilities.

Can I sign-up my entire family at once on the Volunteer Local sign-up site?

YES. After you enter your volunteer information there is a button at the bottom that says…ADD A VOLUNTEER. By clicking on this button, you will be able to add all of your family members without repeating contact information.

How will the fleece blanket project work this year?

The fleece Snip & Slip Christ Child Blanket will be done at home. There will be a $5 fleece kit fee which will include fleece for one blanket and a simple instruction sheet. Fleece fee is to be sent to the rectory office, and you will be notified via email when the kits will be available for pickup, beginning Oct. 1st. Finished blankets should be dropped off at SATG at the designated time on October 9th.

And, if you would like to participate in Parish Service Day 2020 by making a cash dona-tion, it can be mailed, dropped in the weekend collection baskets or at the parish office.

If you have any questions, contact Denise Bobulsky at 440/237-6760 or [email protected].

St. Kateri Conservation Habitat Certification To honor this Sea-son of Creation, we are excited to an-nounce that St. Al-bert the Great has been certified as a St. Kateri Conservation Habitat site. Three of the five criteria below need to be met for certification; our campus meets all five! www.kateri.org/saint-kateri-habitat-2/ Food, water, cover, and space for

people and wildlife. This includes veg-etable gardens, flower/pollinator gar-dens, patio gardens and healthful workplaces. Native trees, shrubs, and wildflow-

ers to promote biodiversity; including milkweed, goldenrod, ninebark, East-ern redbud, Allegheny serviceberry, coneflowers and bee balms. Ecosystem services offered by gar-

dens, wildlife habitats, and natural communities, such as pollination. Sustainable practices for property,

gardens and landscapes such as mini-mizing the use of pesticides and using organic or no-phosphorus fertilizer. Sacred and sacramental places for prayer and contemplation, such as Mary gardens, memorial gardens and rosary gardens. Transforming spaces into healthy hab-itats can be as simple as planting a na-tive tree or growing wildflowers and other native perennials. To further enhance the biodiversity on our cam-pus, native trees and plants will be chosen to help repopulate our land-scape as our building projects here at St. Albert the Great are completed.

Preparing for Next Sunday s Mass Pa i h LinC Le e Oc be T en -Se en h S nda in O dina Time

Read the following Scripture passage paying attention to a word, phrase, or idea that stands out to you:

Jesus said to the chief priests and the elders of the people: "Hear another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a hedge around it, dug a wine press in it, and built a tower. Then he leased it to tenants and went on a journey. When vintage time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to obtain his produce. But the tenants seized the servants and one they beat, another they killed, and a third they stoned. Again he sent other servants, more numer-ous than the first ones, but they treated them in the same way. Finally, he sent his son to them, thinking, 'They will re-spect my son.' But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and acquire his inheritance. They seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What will the owner of the vineyard do to those tenants when he comes?" They answered him, "He will put those wretched men to a wretched death and lease his vineyard to other tenants who will give him the produce at the proper times." Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; by the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes? Therefore, I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit." Matthew 21:33-43.

    S ep 1

Consider and Discuss these 3 Questions: Considering your life today....

    1. What in this reading comforted you? 2. What in this reading encouraged you? 3. What in this reading challenged you? For further contemplation.... What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of me?

O Communion of Love, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, embrace us as your children in this family of faith. Welcome us to a place at your table in the wedding feast of heaven. O Father of Mercy, forgive us as we forgive. Reconcile us as one Body in Christ and make us instruments of your Peace. O Spirit of Fire and Light, send us as your witnesses in daily life. Through our prayer, faith, and good works may we become welcoming doorways, inviting others to enter and encounter your Holy Communion of Love.

We make this prayer, Father, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and through Christ our Lord. Amen

    S ep 3

Four steps to LinC together at home, church meeting, or anywhere!

Make Use of One of These Communion Connections: We live in a frenzy of violence. Whether bombings, shootings, or disorderly riots, we are distressed with the hostility and division in our world. Today s parable seems to highlight the act of violence - and

God s approach toward it. The landowner leaves his vineyard to tenants. At vintage time, the landowner s servants come to obtain the produce, but the tenants commit violent acts against them, even to the point of death. Now, the story continues, with an unlikely response by the landowner, who decides to send his son to the vineyard. What can we make of this apparently illogical story?

In the parable, the landowner is God and our world is the vineyard. In the midst of sinners aggressive acts, God re-sponds, not by striking back, but by subverting the violence by sending us his Son in sacrifice and love on the cross. God shows us that violence can never be thwarted by more violence, but only by means of love and forgiveness. Through the cross, Jesus shows God s abundant love and mercy for us, and that facing hostility with love is the only solution for reconciliation. Let us turn away from the violence that leads only to death, unclench our fists, and strive to be good tenants of this vineyard who produce fruit that is rooted in the Kingdom of God.
