St. Padre Pio’s relics left us at 8pm, just at the conclusion of the Mass in his honor Tuesday in our church! Padre’s Pio visit to our parish was an incredible success for our parish, staff, volunteers, Dcn Gary and myself but most of all for all the pilgrim guests who visited the relics and prayed with Padre Pio that day! At one point I stopped in the church to hear someone crying loudly as they venerated the relics. I saw many friends and folks from former parishes where I served in the past visit us and stay for the Mass! We were blessed with visitors from area parishes, Miles Christi, and even a Padre Pio prayer group in Ohio! This day was only made possible by the tremendous work and dedication of our parish staff and volunteers! A great BIG THANK YOU to Mrs. Debbie Welch, our secretary, who helped plan the day and who fielded endless inquiries, phone calls, and visitors with questions; to Mr. Ron Fuller, our maintenance man, who worked tirelessly to arrange seating, air flow and safety in the church, and provide livestream as well as clean up the day after; to Mrs. Kari Kummet and her husband Dave, who spent hours promoting the event and working the event Tuesday; Mr. Ernesto Alvarez our choir director and members of the quartet who sang so beautifully at Mass! I want to thank in particular: Julie and Bob Tomsic, who spent hours decorating the church, and who brought us the wonderful 3rd class relics Padre Pio cards! Stacey Campbell, who first gave me the idea to request the relics a year ago! David Vella, arranged chairs, and the screen outdoors for the Mass, managed ushers. Mary Cole provided the beautiful mums outside the church and flowers by the Mary grotto! Two parish groups came together to help: our Knights of Columbus, who dressed up and guarded the relics throughout the whole day in the church, and the Ladies of St. Brigid, headed up by Nancy Keogh, who provided greeters and salespeople for the gift table outdoors. Thank you to all the other volunteers who gave of their time and service, there are too many to name! You know who you are! May Padre Pio richly bless our parish and all involved in this memorable day!

A Big Thank You!
