CAFÉ`-CATHOLIC ADULT FAITH ENRICHMENT

The Bible and the Virgin Mary This fall the Catholic Adult Faith Enrichment (CAFÉ) team is offering a 12-week class entitled “The Bible and the Virgin Mary”. The study will meet Thursdays from 6:30-8:00 pm at the SPC. The first class began on September 7. The video lectures are presented by Matthew Leon-ard, and are based on the book “Hail, Holy Queen” by Dr. Scott Hahn. We will see references to Mary in both the Old and New Testaments, and learn how she has been part of God’s plan since the beginning of time. We will also discuss Church-approved apparitions of Mary, which is especially appropriate as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of her appearance at Fatima. This program is available free to all parishioners through the FORMED.org web site. The Study Guide can be downloaded to your computer, and printed copies of the lecture notes and discussion questions are available for purchase. The approximate cost of these handouts is $9.00. You may register for this class by sending an email to [email protected]. If you have questions or would like more information please call Paul Harkins at 610-466-7494 or Sue Brown at 610-857-2026.

SAVE THE DATE Our Life Teen program will be hosting a family style spaghetti dinner next Saturday, September 30, from 5:00-8:00pm at the SPC to raise money for its 2018 mission trip. There will be a slideshow presenting to our church family what our youth accomplished this past sum-mer on their mission trip to Greensboro, NC.

St. Francis of Assisi October 4, is the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the Patron saint of animals. In honor of this great saint, Deacon Gene will bless animals on Sunday, October 1, at 9:30am at the Schneider Parish Center, and again on Sunday, October 8, at St. Malachy immediately after Mass. Please bring your pets that day for a special blessing.

RCIA Are you someone who was baptized a Catholic but never received the Sacrament of First Communion and/or Confirmation? Are you someone who has a family member or friend who is a Catholic and is interested in finding out more about the Catholic faith? Are you someone who was baptized in a non-Catholic Christian faith and are now interested in converting to Catholicism? Are you someone who was never baptized and would like to be a member years of our Catholic Church? If you are an adult (18 years or older) and you answered “Yes” to any one of these questions, then the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is for you! The RCIA is a faith journey in which you deepen your relationship with God and make friendships with other candidates and team members through bible study, faith sharing, and learning about the teachings of the Catholic Church. Adults are then fully initiated into the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil. If you are interested in participating in RCIA for this coming year, classes will begin next Sunday, October 1, from 9:15am-10:30am in the church basement (OLC-church hall) For more information, please contact Janice Dagney at 610-857-0511 or [email protected]

Hurricane Harvey Update Thank You!!!!!!!!

Thanks to your very generous donations collected during the first two weeks, the first check that we mailed for Hurricane Harvey relief was $7,360. Last Monday, Father set a parish goal of $10,000. And in true Our Lady of Consolation fashion, we not only reached our goal – WE EXCEEDED IT! This past weekend, we collected $2,920 in donations at Mass and another $1,250 in electronic donations. Tomorrow, we will be sending another $4,170 to help the Hurricane Harvey victims. The total parish donations were over $11,500! Our parish is amazing! Thank you for your generous hearts in this time of need.

Put God first and

you’ll never be last.
