Have you noticed? An update from the Capital Campaign Committee

Years ago, August 23, 2014 to be exact, the Capital Campaign Committee had its first official meeting at our Church’s Cottage at Bonclarken. As a result of our meeting, the Committee adopted as our slogan “Securing the Home for our Ministry” and identified many things that needed to be done to secure our home. Since then and thanks to those who believed in and supported the Campaign you may have noticed that: We have a new handicap accessible bathroom located on the ground floor of the Sanctuary Building, new chimes, the Sanctuary Building has been painted throughout and the bathrooms in the basement as well as several classrooms have been renovated; we have a new security system providing coverage on the outside of our buildings as well as video coverage on the inside of the Sanctuary building, the Elliott Center and the Family Life Outreach Center (FLOC) (and monitored each Sunday by members of the Safety Committee); the Elliott Center has been painted throughout and new carpet has been installed; the FLOC is in the process of being painted throughout. In addition, you may not have noticed the new gutters on the Manse or that the two bathrooms and kitchen in the Manse have been renovated and that the Manse has been painted throughout. You may not have noticed the new electrical outlets, switches or the ground fault breaker system installed in the Manse or the work completed to make the heating and cooling system more efficient upstairs. (Soon, the kitchen floor will be replaced and the hardwood floors in the den and foyer in the Manse will be refinished). You may have noticed that the driveways around the Sanctuary building and the Manse are in poor condition and that the parking lots around the Sanctuary building need repaving. The Committee has designated this as our next project. We have another problem which is the lack of funds to complete the work. We have cost estimates ranging from $116,000 to $165,000 to complete this project. The $165,000 involves more extensive work than the other estimates. Thanks to Pisgah’s Women Ministries, the Quarter for a Quarter project and ½ of the monies Helen Spencer Foy bequeathed to the Church and gifts from others, we now have $52,113.65 set aside in our checking account and designated for the paving project. Since we operate on a very tight General Fund Budget, the Committee is very sensitive about conducting another campaign drive to raise additional monies nor does the Committee have any desire to borrow funds since the Church is “debt free”. The Committee will accept monies from each of you provided the monies given do not reduce your Tithe. So, if you have an additional $500, $1,000 or $10,000 (or any other monies you are willing to contribute), the Committee will graciously accept your gift and designate it for paving purposes. The Committee believes the project can be completed. You have been very generous with your gifts to the Capital Campaign Fund. To date, you have contributed in excess of $200,000 to the Capital Campaign Fund and the amount continues to grow. We can truly say that your gifts have been used exclusively toward “Securing the Home for our Ministry”. The Capital Campaign Committee thanks you for your support.
