There are certain laws, principles, and axioms that affect the leadership, let’s say the management of an association such as ours. Leadership and club management go hand-in-hand in a Lions club
You’ve probably heard about…
The Peter Principle which observes that people in leadership or management tend to rise to their "level of in-competence.”
Murphy’s Law is the adage that typically states: "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.”
Parkinson’s Principle states that "work expands to fill the time available for its completion.”
The Pareto Principle is an axiom that shows that “80% of the service completed or funds raised is completed by 20% of the club, aka the 80/20 Rule, the Law of the Vital Few, or the Principle of Factor Sparsity
The 90-9-1 Rule states in an internet collaborative group that 90% of the participants only view the content, 9% of the participants edit or reply to the content, and 1% of the participants actively create new content.
A Hobson's Choice states that no matter what choice needs to be made, all of them are objectionable.
Are there any others principles, laws or axioms that can be applied to the work of Lions Club management. I want to hear from at least 9% of you. Let’s push 19% okay?

Council Chairman Donald Harris, on behalf or the 2018-2019 Council of Governors, and as head of the State
GAT committee, is contacting you to let you know the following action took place this past weekend at the
August Council meeting.
The State Global Leadership Team (GLT) leadership position, PCC Fred Peska, has vacated the position.
This leaves a vacancy at the state level. DG Darren Van Duyn and I are reaching out to each of you regularly
until a replacement can be found. Please bear in mind the MD-1 Regional Lions Leadership Institute training
and the MD-1 Forum are fast approaching, and cancelling either one is a VERY costly option. As the chair of
the GLT group –now with the vacancy of the State Chairman, I ask each of you to assist Governor Darren
(the Liaison Governor of this committee) and me in making sure that these events will meet and exceed ex-pectations. Governor Darren has assured us at the state level that plans are moving forward. With your help it
will be all that it can be. Thank You, Governor Darren, for hitting the ground running. Please, Lions, keep an
e e on your inboxes daily; a phone call isn’t out of question. These two events are very important to the state
and we need someone to step up to the plate and put forth their best effort.
Contact CC Daniel Harris if you wish to be the State GLT chairperson. This position needs to be filled soon!
Governors, this should be shared with your district GLT chairpersons. Illinois Lions pleae forward this to
your club members and/or your district.
Thank You, Lion Daniel Harris, Council Chairman
FYI: qualifications for this state position are on page 7.
