Third Generation Porsche Cayenne Makes Global Debut after Extreme EnduranceTests
Following extensive endurance testing, including in Canadiansnow and African desert sand, Porsche unveiled the new2019 Cayenne. The all-new Cayenne builds on the formulathat started in 2003 while pushing performance boundarieseven further through new technologies that significantlyimprove on-road performance and comfort.
The new Cayenne is more athletic both in appearance anddriving performance due to new styling cues and engineeringdevelopments. In line with its modern exterior, the interiorcarries many of the same design cues and new technologiesthat made their debut on the 2017 Porsche Panamera.
Among the many changes, optional rear-axle steering createsa virtual reduction of the wheelbase at low speeds and avirtual lengthening at high speeds for improved agility andstability. Available Porsche Surface Coated Brakes (PSCB)offer even greater stopping power and reduced brake wear.Every new generation Cayenne model will come with aturbocharged powertrain and all-wheel drive that complementthe new lighter weight platform.
But before the official release of the new Cayenne, Porschetook it around the world for brutal endurance testing to showwhat it could really do. Porsche will offer two models at launch: the Cayenne andCayenne S. Both are powered by turbocharged six-cylinderengines. The Cayenne uses a 3.0-liter single-turbo V6 making340 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, enabling it toaccelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds (or 5.6
seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package). The newCayenne is also capable of running the quarter-mile in 14.4seconds or 14.2 seconds with the Sport Chrono package, andit is able to reach a top track speed of 152 mph.
The Cayenne S uses a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 that makes 440horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. It is able to accelerate to60 mph from a standstill in 4.9 seconds (or 4.6 seconds withthe optional Sport Chrono package) and continue on toward atop track speed of 164 mph. The Cayenne S quarter miletimes drop to 13.3 seconds (or 13.2 seconds with the SportChrono package).
A newly-developed eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission isstandard across the Cayenne line. It offers improved comfortand quicker response times in its lower gear range forimproved performance both on- and off-road. Meanwhile, anintentionally long eighth gear allows for relaxed cruising. Thelong gear is designed to complement the performance-mindedlower ratios with the option for comfortable highway cruising.
Driver-selectable transmission programming further enhanceshow the Cayenne handles on varied terrain. The defaultsetting is the on-road program. Four other modes activate theconditioning for mild off-road terrain: Mud, Gravel, Sand, orRocks. The drive mode, chassis settings, and differential lockscan be selected to adapt to the relevant scenario. Fullyvariable Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel driveis standard on all Cayenne models. The system offersexcellent performance characteristics while also providingextensive traction on rough ground.

Porsche announces Rennsport Reunion VI to be held September 2018
Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) and Mazda RacewayLaguna Seca announced the next Porsche RennsportReunion will take place at the famed California racetrack in2018. The upcoming Family Reunion has been expanded tofour days and will be held September 27-30, 2018.
In what has become a tradition, Rennsport Reunion VI willbring together an extraordinary gathering of significantPorsche racecars, as well as those who have designed,engineered, and driven them to victory in the world's mostfamous sports car races. Hosted by PCNA, the four-dayprogram of on-track competition will be complemented by aConcours d'Elegance, which is open to invited raceparticipants.
After staging the first three events in the east, with theinaugural at Lime Rock Park in 2001, followed by two eventsat Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Floridain 2004 and 2007, Rennsport Reunion IV moved west in 2011,tapping into a vast array of west coast car aficionados andPorsche enthusiasts. Returning to a three-year interval, thisincomparable event has turned into a world-wide happening.
"Choosing the Monterey Peninsula once again for our uniquePorsche family reunion builds upon what we learned fromprevious Rennsport Reunions," said Klaus Zellmer, Presidentand CEO of Porsche Cars North America.
"We had close to 60,000 fans, enthusiasts and owners comethrough the gates of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca tocelebrate with us in 2015, and California's picturesque centralcoast provides an ideal backdrop. The Golden State as awhole has always been like a second home to Porsche."

During Porsche Rennsport Reunion V in 2015, over 1,300Porsche Club of America (PCA) member-owned Porschemodels helped fill the show fields, race classes, and parkinglots of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to overflow capacity. Forthe upcoming sixth rendition, the PCA will once again play anintegral role in the festivities.
