“Kelly is such a bright spot at the front desk. She is efficient and very friendly. Please let her know how much she is appreciated.”

Karen B. said, “ Lisa, my trainer, is awesome! She pushes me in a really good way. I feel I’m getting stronger every week. Love the different ages of people and am looking forward to trying new classes.”

“I would like to recognize Bob. He is the “face” of ProActive fitness classes. He is always friendly, caring and enthusiastic with all members and participants. He is one of the top reasons that I am a member of ProActive.”

AVOID INJURY AND ENJOY FALL by Jordan Mettler PT, DPT, TherapyPlus

The arrival of colder temperatures and changing leaves also brings yard work and fall activites. This can be strenuous on the body. Here are some tips on how to avoid injury to let you enjoy the season.

•An informal warmup may be the single most important activity you can perform. An appropriate warm up will increase blood flow to the body and allow muscles to perform at their highest ability. A warmup can be as simple as walking around the yard.

•Proper body mechanics such as bending with your knees and not your back are essential for avoiding injuries. Holding heavier items closer to your body is another way to avoid a visit to the doctor.

•Breaks and periodic activity changes are a great way of avoiding muscular fatigue and overuse of the muscles.

•It is important to properly handle the equipment you use. Always utilize a strap if it is available and interchange which side of the body is using the equipment.

Following these tips will guarantee you have a pain-free fall clean-up!

There were 18 members who completed 120+ miles and received the GOLD prize, 16 members received the SILVER prize for completing 60-119 miles and 10 members completed 30-59 miles to earn the BRONZE prize. Congratulations to Randy Stucker for winning the Grand Prize Drawing of a Free Month of Dues.

ProActive strives to provide events that encourage members in a positive way. Thank you to all TRYathlon Challenge participants, we appreciate and encourage comments from members.

“I feel great and the challenge keeps me coming to the gym,” said Joe B., member since 2014. Joe enjoyed the competition and pushed himself to go for the GOLD, which he achieved by going to ProActive 13 days in a row.

Hector S., member since 2016, said the challenge gave him an incentive to do more running and to walk more. Hector said, “I like having a goal to reach.”
