“Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call for the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned,
he will be forgiven.” James 5: 13-15

DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES
DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY TEAM MEETING
11:00AM @ A.P. Shaw Campus – Saturday, July 14, 2018
The Discipleship Ministry exists to invite people to be transformed as they are inspired and challenged to know and experience God and to live as Christian Disciples.
Areas of Ministry: Bible Institute: Academic Year Bible Study, Short-term Bible Study, Small Group Bible Study, Vacation Bible School, Teachers, and Spiritual Gifts
If you are interested in being a part of any area of these ministries, please contact
Team Leader, Wesley Jackson or attend any of the ministry meetings.
—“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing
to God-this is your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is --his good,
pleasing and perfect will.” — ROMAN 12: 1 AND 2 (NIV)

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR GRADUATES Sunday, June 10, 2017 – During 11:00AM Service
Baptism by water is an act a born again believer chooses to do in obedience to Christ’s
command, following His example. It symbolizes both death and resurrection. It is an outward
sign or manifestation of their salvation experience and testimony of their new life in Christ to
those who witness their baptism. It symbolizes their “death to self” and rebirth in Jesus
Christ. When a person is immersed in water during baptism, they should see their old nature
as being dead, buried and gone. When they are raised out of the water, they should see
themselves raised up as a new creation, with a brand new life, having a desire to live
in obedience to Christ, their Lord and Savior. In other words, one’s baptism is the outward
sign/manifestation that they are now dead to sin and alive to God (Romans 6:11-13).
Baptism by immersion is one of the ways United Methodists baptize. The other two are
sprinkling and pouring.

BRIGHTER DAY DISCIPLESHIP
MINISTRY
INVITES YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR
SUNDAY MORNING
BIBLE STUDY CLASS
Discipleship Ministry extends this Invitation to you to
come out and join us as we discover more of the
Person and Knowledge of this Great and Powerful
God who loves us so much that He gave us His Only
Son Jesus Christ to pay for our sins to make us His
people.
Jesus told us to learn of Him, and that comes through
studying His Word. God has placed in His Body
Teachers, and these Teachers have made
themselves available to us on Sunday mornings at
9:30AM at the A.P. Shaw (East) Campus) to teach
these Adult Bible Classes.
The lessons taught from Sunday to Sunday have
been so relevant. The Teachers have explained how
these lessons apply to life today. The many
questions that have been asked from the members
have been answered with satisfactory answers. We
can never hear too much of God's Word, “for faith
comes from hearing -- and hearing the Word of God.”
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday morning!
These are the Scriptures we are studying during the
month of July:
July 1, 2018 – Matthew 18:21-35
July 8,, 2018 – Matthew 23:1-4, 23-26
July 15, 2018 – Luke 18:1-8
July 22, 2018 – Luke 13:22-30
July 29, 2018 – Luke 14:15-24

A SIMPLE AND CONVENIENT WAY TO GIVE
We encourage you to automate your regular donations. Consider signing up for electronic giving, it makes it easy to give your tithes and offerings even when you’re unable to attend church. Whatever the reason, you can still rejoice in the miracle of giving by sending your tithes and offerings. The system is very secure.
We thank you for your continued support!
Please see Denise Lowery or any member of the Financial Management Team for details.
As you give, do so with a joyful heart…..

2 Corinthians 9 verses 6 to 8 - Generosity Encouraged - Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
