FROM THEMANAGER’S DESKCLUBHOUSE

Summer is here even though it is with a push and a shove. Rain has been beautiful and the flowers blooming is always a lovely site making this time of year special in its own right.

We have been planting trees all over the Clubhouse grounds, generously donated by a resident. Leopard trees in front of the Clubhouse and several types of palms in and around the swimming pool. A fern has been planted under the trees in the park and two kumquat trees are battling their way forward next to the main gate.

ParkThe park next to the Clubhouse has been cleaned up to a large degree and grass will be planted there over a space of time. Donations of grass will always be welcome. We are also trying out lawn seed that is supposed to grow very easily, even in shady areas. Hopefully this area will bring much pleasure to all residents once it is fully developed.

55On the pictures above the planned structure and the previous structure can clearly be seen where the pillars will be placed.

Swimming Pool The swimming pool is a disappointing disaster. It cracked to the extent that lost water costs around R15,000 per month. A contractor was appointed and at strategic points around the pool, steel reinforcement pillars will be built to avoid further sagging on the deep side. The Board, with the advice of two engineers, are still battling to find an ultimate solution to the problem. Demolishing and replacing the pool has not been totally ruled out, but we are aware that the current pool is about three years old. Hoping that the pillars and fibre glassing will resolve the problem in two weeks’ time, enabling residents to have full use of the pool again.

Perimeter Electric FenceThe new outer perimeter fence has been operating efficiently and the completion of snag list issues will see the final product approved and handed over to the Estate.

Phase 2 of the electric fence replacement between the different complexes will commence shortly and increase the overall security position of the Estate.

The next phase will include perimeter monitoring and access control equipment upgrade. This will be presented to the next AGM for approval.

BroadbandThis project mentioned at the previous AGM is developing into a substantial plus for the Estate including not only communication but also substantial security aspects. The present situation will be presented to the AGM envisaged for November 2015.

PotholesDolf Stoltz and his maintenance team have done a sterling job of closing the potholes on the outside of gate 2, on the outgoing as well as incoming side. It will make the situation much easier while waiting for City of Tshwane to repair the three holes.

Market DayIngrid Dedekind from Leapfrog has taken over the running of Market Day. Her devotion and planning really paid off. All she needs now is the support of the residents. There was around forty stalls and enough for everyone to enjoy. In the near future she will bring in mobile kitchens to be operated from the parking area and it sounds like the products to be supplied will be very special.

VigilanceOur spotless record has been tarnished with two robberies on Friday, 11 September. The only positive taken from these situations is the prompt reaction of our security.The resident heard noises and on investigation found two robbers removing, among other things, the TV. Security gave chase and they fled over the inner perimeter walls, dropping the TV close by and the remote some distance away. The outer perimeter was not breached which makes it most certainly an inside job. This type of occurrence is very difficult to stop and residents are encouraged to keep windows and doors closed while keeping the Security telephone number close at hand. Both cases are in the hands of SAPS and are being investigated.

WHAT IS OUR CONFESSION?About OURSELVES…Jesus’ bold confession is our example. We are what He made us to be. Jesus confessed what He was. Sense knowledge could not understand it. We are to confess what we are in Christ. Men of the senses will not understand us. To confess that you are redeemed, that your redemption is a reality that you are delivered out of Satan’s dominion and authority, would be a daring confession to make.

To confess that you are an actual New Creation created in Christ Jesus, that you are a partaker of the very nature and life of Christ would amaze your

friends. It isn’t confessing it once, but daily affirming your relationship to Him, confessing your righteousness, your ability to stand in His presence without the sense of guilt or inferiority.

Dare to stand in the presence of sense knowledge facts, and declare that you are what God says you are! Sense knowledge declares that I am sick with a serious illness. I confess that God laid that disease on Jesus. Satan has no right to put it on me. “By His stripes I’m healed.” I am to hold fast to my confession in the face of sense knowledge contradiction. Sense knowledge says it is not true, that I am confessing an untruth.

But I am confessing what God says. You see, there are two kinds of Truth: sense knowledge Truth, and revelation Truth. They are usually opposed to each other. REMEMBER! As a new creation in Jesus Christ we now live in a new realm above the senses.

SAFE & SOUNDThe warmer weather means we are all keen to open windows and doors to let the cool breeze in. We would however like to urge all residents to still be careful and take the necessary precautions. Please close the windows on the ground floor level and lock the doors when you are not at home. If you have a two lever lock on any of your doors, please consider upgrading to something more secure. If you see or hear something suspicious, please report it to our Security staff. Perimeter Vegetation At The Wilds

As a courtesy we would like to remind you that Residents living on perimeter walls are responsible to ensure that overgrowth does not interfere with electric fencing. Contractors and Estate Maintenance will cut back vegetation at the cost of the resident. Your cooperation will be appreciated.

Electric Fence LegislationIn accordance with SANS 10222-3, the clearance distance from ground level to an electric fence must be 1.5 meters. Any filling or construction must not reduce this distance as it is a safety precaution. This is especially relevant to the leveling of new stands where filling becomes an issue.

You’ve probably seen them darting across the road… Black tipped tail disappearing out of sight into the bush. The Slender Mongoose, also known as the Black-tipped Mongoose or the Black-tailed Mongoose may be small creature but is spirited and fearless.

As its name suggests, the Slender Mongoose has a long slender body with short legs. They are about 30-40 cm long with their tail adding another 30cm or more. There are around fifty  HYPERLINK “https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subspecies”subspecies of this mammal which have a wide variety of colouration, but the Slender Mongoose are identifiable by their prominent black or red tip at the end of their tail. This feature results in confusion with the Meerkat, which are from the same family but are quite different. Unlike other Mongoose, Slender Mongoose also like climbing trees.

NATURE FEATURE

Slender Mongoose are fairly common in our part of the world and are found throughout sub-Saharan Africa. They prefer Savannah and semiarid plains but are highly adaptable which may account for their status as one of the animals conservationists are least concerned about.   Amazingly, Mongoose as a species are immune to snake venom. Their diet consists of lizards, rodents, bird, insects and fruit with the occasional snake thrown in – because they can!

The first week of this month was Arbor Week in our Country and it’s a time when we focus on the importance of trees in our ecology. It’s important to teach our children about greening our planet and the value of indigenous plants. Why not involve your whole family in planting the seeds of a healthier natural environment.The trees selected for 2015 tree of the year are:

• Forest bushwillow (Combretum krausii).This tree has been selected from the list of common species. It is handsome, quick growing and reasonably cold resistant. It is recommended for shady areas in gardens with a mild to warm climate. Found from the coast to the midlands in the eastern regions of South Africa and neighbouring Swaziland. The habitat ranges from rocky hillsides at altitudes from almost sea level up to 1 200 m. It grows anywhere from evergreen forest or forest margins to dense woodland.• Parsley tree (Heteromorpha arborescens). This tree has been selected from the list of rare species. This small to medium-sized, deciduous tree or straggly shrub is suitable for a small maintenance-free garden. It occurs in wooded grassland, bushveld and on forest margins. It is fairly widespread in the eastern regions of South Africa, from the southern Cape up through Eastern Cape and eastern Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Swaziland into Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Limpopo. It also occurs further north in Africa.
