CMI Social Apostolate News letter 1
“Empowering the CMI Way”The Social Apostolate of the CMI Congregation has made inroads in empowering
and uplifting the masses through its 15 provinces. We are indeed glad to shed lightupon the major activities of the Department of Social Apostolate in this Newsletter. We extend our sincere gratitude to God for making us His instruments in transformingthe lives of many. We remember with gratitude all those dedicated and committedpeople who have made their relentless contributions towards making this world abetter place. We also extend our sincere gratitude to Rev. Fr. Joy Vattoly my forerunner, for his valuable contributions to the Social Apostolate through CEVA.
Fr. Jince Padinjareyil CMI Secretary-CEVA
The Generalate Community visited
the camps of the flood affected
victims in and around Kainagiri on
21st August 2014. The Department of
Social Apostate extended financial
help to the victims in 21 camps.
The General Synaxis 37 of the CMI Congregation has directed the GeneralDepartment of Social Apostolate to document and make more visible the activitiesand achievements of our members involved in charitable works and in systematicsocial service by way of periodic newsletters. It is a fact that all our members aredirectly or at least indirectly involved in the uplifting of the less privileged whetherthey work in parishes, educational institutions, administration of temporalities or
in systematic social service sectors. With joy they fulfill the command of the Lord to love theneighbor as themselves. (Mt 22:39) However, visibility is also demanded by the Lord. We areasked not to keep the light under bushel. It should be kept on a candlestick. “Let our light shinethat God be glorified.” (Mt 5: 14-16)
On this occasion, I am happy to express my gratitude to Rev. Fr. Varghese Kokkadan, mypredecessor, who brought out a handbook of CMI Social Apostolate, with the title, “BeyondBoundaries” under the guidance of our former Prior General, Rev. Fr. Jose Panthaplamthottiyil.
The present Department of Social Apostolate has decided to publish a news letter periodically, which, I do hope, would serve the purpose of documentation, visibility and witnessing. Let meexpress my gratitude to Rev. Fr. Paul Achandy and the members of the General Council, theProvincials and their respective Department of Social Apostolate for promoting this news letter.
Rev. Fr. Jince Padinjareyil, the Secretary of CEVA, and the CEVA team are working hard tobring out this news letter. While thanking them wholeheartedly, I wish them success. MayBlessed Chavara, who was passionate in doing good to others, be our inspiration! “Let there beno day in your life in which you did no good to others.” (Bl. Chavara).
