Ten West Center for the Arts Issue 8, September
update. Everything you need to know about Ten West
Center for the Arts this month.
Issue 8, September
August wrap-‐up August was a quiet month at Ten West. We didn’t have any major events because most of our volunteers were all getting back into the swing of
school and work. Many behind-‐the-‐scenes took place, however. There were planning meetings for upcoming events, fundraisers and programs that will
be released later this month.
We also opened yet ANOTHER community space to groups that need it. This is a temporary measure, but the new meeting space can hold over 25 people
and features a SMARTboard for presentations and note taking.
As we roll on through September, look for On The Lot Open Mic Nights, Burger/Salad Nights, and a few other fun events. We look forward to the
incoming cool weather and beautiful fall colors that will usher in many new and exciting challenges at Ten West Center for the Arts.
Professors of Trumpet and Piano are coming to Ten West! Check out more on the story on page 3.

Fortville Remembers
With over 100 performers and nearly 200 audience members in attendance, this year’s “Fortville Remembers: A Patriotic Tribute” was bigger and more powerful than last year. The concert included the Mt. Vernon Middle School Choir, the Mt. Vernon High School Center Stage Choir and featured the internationally acclaimed

a venue change for the event in 2013! We will be moving to a local area that will be able to hold at least 400 people. We would like to thank the community for coming out and helping us honor the men and women who gave their lives on that fateful day 11 years ago.
Bay Street Brassworks. Brassworks rounded out the concert with songs including Hymn to the Fallen, Danse Bacchanal, and Taps. There were also moving tributes including local law enforcement and firefighters, as well as a bagpipe rendition of Amazing Grace. There was such a positive turn out that Ten West is now planning

On the lot Open Mic Nights
Ten West had success with the summer On The Lot Open Mic Nights, so we are going to start them up again beginning Friday,
September 28 at 7 p.m.
This edition of On the Lot will have a hint of fall to it. We will have warm food available and a warming area. These will be great nights to come out and snuggle up to someone and enjoy an
evening out! We hope to make this more regular as time goes on, holding the event every other Friday.
What happens when it gets too cold out? We will move the event indoors and have hot chocolate!
Volunteers are what make Ten West possible. Without them, we would be nothing! We would like to recognize Tanner Merrit for all of the time he dedicates to Ten West. Tanner is a sophomore studying Health Information Administration at IUPUI. Tanner has been with us since the beginning. He has helped at many many events and is always ready to jump in and lend a hand in any way possible. If you see him around town, take a moment to tell him how special he is to our community! We hope he continues to grow and learn, as well as keep a special place in his heart for Ten West .
