News & Notes
COUNCIL MEETINGS STARTING
FOR 2011-2012 4H YEAR
Council is a great place to have leadership in your 4-H program- Attend Council, it’s in your hands!
Each and every 4-H member is a Council Member, all you need to do is attend Council Meetings to join
in on the fun! Meeker Council is the first Tuesday of the Month, Rangely is 2nd
Monday of the month
**unless noted otherwise!
Become an Officer and help run the program the way you and your fellow 4-H members want!
FALL 2011 Council Meeting Dates:
September Council – Post Fair, Achievement Nights, & Election Info: Meeker Council ~ September - 6

Rangely Council ~ September – 12th 6:00pm @ Eagle Crest
October Council - Officer Nominations: Rangely Council ~ October – **3

Meeker Council ~ October – 4th 6:00pm
Tentative Officer Primary Elections: Nominations will be narrowed down to 3

Achievement Nights:

Fun incentives are being awarded for members who attend the most meetings; Officers will keep track of
club representatives’ attendance to council meetings with rewards at Achievement Night!
Colorado State University, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Rio Blanco County cooperating.
Cooperative Extension programs are available to all without discrimination.

National Youth Science Day!
October 4th
@ 4:30pm in Meeker (before Council)
& October 5th @ 4:30pm in Rangely
Rio Blanco County is registered to participate in this nationwide experiment! Join us as we
experiment with the Power of Wind!
National 4-H Council, with support from Toyota, will award a total of $10,000 in
Innovation Awards to state and local 4-H programs that hold NYSD events promoting creativity, community action
and promotional visibility for 4-H. Do you have ideas to help us?? Bring them to the September Council
meeting!!
Scholarships available for Senior 4-H’ers!
High School Seniors- consider applying for the RBC 4-H Foundation Scholarship and the RBC 4-H Scholarship.
For more information on other scholarships, stop by the Office and we will get you what you need!

If you completed a General 4-H Project or a Dog project, please be sure to attend Achievement Night! Special
thanks to the Meeker Lion’s Club, White River Electric Association, and EnCana for their support of the 4-H
General Project Completion Checks that contributes to each 4-H member receiving a check**
**The 4-H Foundation selects Outstanding member awards for Junior, Intermediate, and Senior 4-H’ers for both
Meeker and Rangely. Complete the attached nomination form so you can show the 4-H Foundation what you
have done in 4-H this past year. Please return your completed forms to either Extension Office by September 21st.
**Danforth Award Nominations- Leaders, parents, and fellow 4-H members… do you have a Senior 4-H member in
mind you would like to nominate for the Danforth award? Please have nominations into the Extension Office by
September 21st. Decisions and awards will be made by the 4-H Foundation.
Septemberfest!
Water balloon War 10am- 5pm
Bring yourself and your friends over to the 4-H Water Balloon Launchers for some good times! For $3 you can pelt
your friends or foes with water balloons! Each team will receive a bucket full (2 buckets) of water balloons! If you
don’t think this sounds fun in 90 +degree weather…JUST TRY IT! Come have fun and help support the
Rangely 4-H! THANKS!
