Sadly, this is because Deacon Barbara Mays-Stock, our editor, is in Florida because of her father’s death. I know that each of you will remember her and her family in your prayers. It’s been years since I have attempted to produce a newsletter, but here goes! Miss Tinker, our faithful Administrator, and I have gathered together the news about the most important activities which will take place this month. We hope that all of you will pitch in as we move into a new season. The Dean Welcome Back!!! Sunday, September 12th after the 10:30 service we will have our Annual Picnic in the Roger Williams ational Park across the street from the Cathedral. Bring a dish to share. Bring a friend who might not have a parish home. There’s a sign-up sheet on the table in the entrance to Synod Hall, but you can also call the parish office, 401.331.4622, to tell us what you’re going to bring. Drinks, plates and utensils will be provided by the Church. We expect to see you there!

Don’t miss these events!

� Our newest Cathedral Canon will be instituted as thirtieth Rector of Trinity Church ,ewport, the oldest parish of the Diocese.

On Sunday, September 12th, at 4:00pm Bishop Wolf will institute the Reverend Anne Marie Richards at Trinity Church, One Queen Anne Square in Newport, RI. Join the Dean at this exciting event.

� Christian Formation

Each year we offer classes for Christian formation both for our young people and adults. Our Sunday classes will begin on September the 19th at 9:45 in Synod Hall for adults and at 10:30 in the Sunday School rooms for our young people.

You will be receiving a brochure outlining the classes shortly. But if you have any questions please call the Dean, 401.331.4622, in regard to the adult program and Santana Sluss, 401.781.5092, for the young peoples’ program.

� Priestly Ordination

On Saturday, the 25th at 10:00, the Reverend M P Schneider will be ordained to the Priesthood by Bishop Wolf. While the diaconal ordinations are always done in the Cathedral, the priestly ordinations usually are not. This is a great opportunity for you, as a part of the Diocesan family, to experience a very moving and meaningful liturgy.

� Worship and Fellowship with the Mision Iglesia El Mesias

Don’t miss a Eucharist and International Dinner, Sunday, the 26th at 6:00 with our friends and neighbors who worship here each Sunday. The Eucharist will be bi-lingual as will a super dinner afterwards in Synod Hall. Further details will be forthcoming. Save this date.

successful due to everyone’s generosity and great spirit.

� Women's Retreat

The Diocesan Episcopal Church Women (ECW) has scheduled a retreat for October 15th and 16th at the Canonicus Retreat Center in Exeter, RI. It will run from 5 pm on Friday to 2pm on Saturday. The facilitator is Ann Hood, author of several exciting books. Reservations need to be made by September 24th. The retreat fee is $120.00, which includes a deposit of $35.00, 3 meals and overnight accommodations. Brochures are available on the table inside the entrance of Synod Hall.
