Medicine for the Earth NewsletterMessages from the Ancestors By Martha Lucier

Healing the Hearts of the

 Ancestors in Greenland

 Just before leaving for

Greenland, where I was to

attend the Sacred Fire

Ceremony in July 2009, I had

a dream that was very

powerful. In the dream I wasperforming an Ancestor

Ceremony in an area where

rocks marked the graves of the

ancestors on a grassy land. I

was standing at each rock

holding a scepter while saying

prayers. As I began to pray the

Earth began moving and

shifting beneath my feet, like

waves pulling me off balance.

The shifting caused large

cracks and one of them began

to open. I knew the ancestors

were not far beneath the

surface. I was shown that they

were only 1-1/2 feet

underground and only air lie

between the ancestors andmyself.

I began sinking into one of

the cracks as the rumbling

earth softened like a sponge. I

 jumped back to stop myself

from being swallowed by the

earth. I later wondered if the

melting permafrost was

bringing the ancestors closer to

us? A big black spider emerged

out of one of the cracks. I

killed it by slicing it in half

with the scepter without

hesitation, as I intuitively knew

it carried poison.

A story began to unfold on

my journey to Greenland that

helped me understand thesignificance of the dream and

why I was called to the top of

the world. This is the story that

has unfolded for me,http://

The Hollow Bone

In my dream

God asked me to become an empty vessel.

To drain my ship of my remaining content, drop by drop

until I am dry and hollow.

 A bone.

Cleared of substance.

 A space framed.

In my dream

the Lovely One asked that I give up everything

to become nothing

“And wait there

until further notice.”

When I woke I felt the truth of your request.

To wait is the only way through

my fear

my limitation

me.

The only way beyond.

 And so I stand

wading in the unknown

thigh deep in presence

Living a prayer

for grace.

I am very excited to be attending an

International Shamanic Convergence September

20-23, 2009 sponsored by the Nova Scotia

Grandmother's Council called Returning to Our

Roots http://www.shamanicconference2009.org /.

The following message and images come from

Marilyn Daniels, a recent visitor to Oceanstone in

Indian Harbour, Nova Scotia.

“Having just returned from 4 days at Oceanstone, I

wanted to share a bit of my experience with those who have

not yet decided to attend the upcoming shamanism gathering. It

was incredibly beautiful there. For me the experience of leaving

the city and being immersed in natural beauty of Indian

Harbour – with its gentle beach framed with rock formations,

beautiful sunsets, and gently pounding waves – was totally

memorizing. I simply did not want to leave. Although I felt

privileged to have private time there, I know that it is the perfect setting for the coming together of those who practice

shamanism and I know it will be an incredibly powerful

experience for all who attend. The place is a perfect container

for such a gathering – the lovely cottages, beautiful grounds,

friendly staff, wonderful food supports the inherent power of

the place – a place where one can be powerfully connected to

nature and spirit. I know it will be a very powerful experience

 for all who attend.”

~ Marilyn Daniels

I invite you to join me in reconnecting with our

roots while listening and remembering the “old

ways” of our ancestors. The purpose of this

gathering is:

• To honour the sacredness and connectedness

of all living beings and our planet

• To gently walk in oneness with all kingdoms

and beings, in both physical and non-physical form

• To live in harmony and respect with nature,

the directions, the elements and the Divine

Shamanic Home Practice

Rock Grinding Journey To the Ancestors:

Find a rock the size of your fist and another

rock that you can sit upon or a large flat rock. With

permission, begin grinding the smaller rock onto the

bigger rock, making a sound that you can journey to

Journey through the layers of time to the

Ancestors and ask what has been passed onto you to

heal from the ancestors? What gifts do you carry

from the ancestors?

It is now time for each of us to become thehollow bone, gather in circles with Spirit in the

centre and listen to the wisdom from within. With

much love and gratitude. Martha Lucier
