Old St. Marys, now in its 186 th year of faith and service to Gods people, and served by the Holy Ghost Fathers since 1893, extends a warm welcome to all! We are so happy to be gathered here worshiping God. Our second collection today is for our Maintenance Fund. For a single day, on September 24, 2020, THIS THURSDAY, Fr. John Riccardo and his ACTS XXIX team want the entire country to stop what theyre doing and pray. The nation, torn by political and civil unrest, division and acrimony, desperately needs it, he contends. The grassroots idea for a National Day of Prayer and Fasting, sponsored by ACTS XXIX, a Detroit-based apostolate dedicated to parish renewal nationwide, was born after the team released a podcast episode about courageous leaders, said Fr. Riccardo, ACTS XXIXs executive director. In particular, Fr. Riccardo was struck by the need to pray for wisdom in order to discern what to be courageous about. His own prayers led him to the figure of Abraham Lincoln; Lincoln, in his great wisdom, had led the country in days of prayer, fasting and humiliation three times over the course of the Civil War. Our second collection today is for our Maintenance Fund. For a single day, on September 24, 2020, THIS THURSDAY, Fr. John Riccardo and his ACTS XXIX team want the entire country to stop what they’re doing and pray. The nation, torn by political and civil unrest, division and acrimony, desperately needs it, he contends. A PRAYER FOR THE SICK

Creator of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the sick members of our community and for all who are in need. Amid mental and physical suffering may they find consolation in your healing presence. Show your mercy as you close wounds, cure illness, make broken bodies whole and free downcast spirits. May these special people find lasting health and deliverance, and join us in thanking you for all of your gifts. We ask this through the Lord Jesus who healed those who believed. Amen.

Remember in your prayers…..

Election Prayer Lord Jesus Christ, You told us to give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God. Enlighten the minds of our people in America. May we choose a President of the United States, and other government officials, according to Your Divine Will. Give our citizens the courage to choose leaders of our nation who respect the sanctity of unborn human life, the sanctity of marriage, the sanctity of marital relations, the sanctity of the family, and the sanctity of the aging. Grant us the wisdom to give You, what belongs to You, our God. If we do this, as a nation, we are confident You will give us an abundance of Your blessings through our elected leaders. Amen.
