FROM THE PASTOR: The Hound of Heaven: Described "The name is strange. It startles one at first. It is so bold, so new, so fearless. It does not attract, rather the reverse. But when one reads the poem this strangeness disappears.

The meaning is understood. As the hound follows the hare, never ceasing in its running, ever drawing nearer in the chase, with unhurrying and unperturbed pace,

so does God follow the fleeing soul by His Divine grace.

And though in sin or in human love, away from God it seeks to hide itself, Divine grace follows after, unwearyingly follows ever after, till the soul feels its pressure forcing it to turn to Him alone in that never ending pursuit." John F.X. O'Conor, S.J. 1912

This poem came to mind the moment I read this Sunday’s gospel. “What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the lost one until he finds it?” “Or what woman having ten coins and losing one would not light a lamp and sweep the house, searching carefully until she finds it?”

Take a few minutes this week—perhaps before the Blessed Sacrament on Thursday—and meditate on this wonderful truth: ” “You are pursued by God.”

Mission Cooperative Collection This weekend we welcome Deacon John Brannen from the Diocese of Lexington Kentucky. He is here to make

a financial appeal in support of the mission work within his diocese. This region includes the Appalachian mountain region of Kentucky.

Throughout the diocese of Lexington, and especially in Appalachia, many

women and men work with those in financial or spiritual poverty, bringing the Gospel to life and caring for those in need. This work would not be possible without the generous support of others through mission appeals.

Please be generous in your support of this important work being carried out in the name of Christ.

Mass On The Grass Several years ago, the Pastoral Council embraced the

idea of a Mass on the Grass and was willing to translate the idea into reality. Last Sunday’s Mass was a blessed experience. Check the

parish and diocesan Facebooks for lots of pictures.

Special thanks to the Pastoral Council and to the many parishioners who worked together as a team to handle all the details of setting up and tearing down, liturgy, and lunch. It was great to see so may people linger at the tables. One parishioner said that this was his most favorite Mass. I think we gave our God ample praise. And we give thanks for the great weather.

Freedom of Speech Under Attack Big Tech companies are facing their day of reckoning from the Pro-Life movement.

Leading pro-life organization Live Action has gone through its fair share of confrontations with Big Tech, and now is taking the fight to the next level.

In early September, Live Action’s attorneys sent cease and desist letters to YouTube and Pinterest. These letters accused them of suppressing content and breaching contracts, which resulted in money loss and damaged reputations.

Speaking exclusively with NewsBusters TechWatch, Live Action leader Lila Rose spoke with enthusiasm about the upcoming legal battle. In a best case scenario where the case goes to court and they win, she hoped for Big Tech companies to actually be held to standards of “integrity and fairness” to the point where they do not interfere with information and “people can make up their own minds.” “Those who talk of ‘tolerating all opinions’ are very provincial bigots who are only familiar with one opinion.” G. K. Chesterton in 1912!!

T H O U G H T S O N G I V I N G :

“Everything I have is yours.” (Luke 15:31)

Our Heavenly Father gives us everything, including the chance to share in His eternal kingdom. Yet, like the Prodigal Son, we are often lured away by the materialism of our society. Do we really want to turn our backs on all that God offers in exchange for a material wealth that has no lasting value?

MUSIC MINISTRY - PARISH CHOIR NEWS: Happy New Year! Yes … I know it’s only September, but for many of us September starts the “real” new year. The kids

are back in school, vacations are winding down, and we are looking for a meaningful way to use our time. Why not become active in the Music Ministry? Music adds solemnity to our liturgies, uniting us as one as we sing to express joy and thanksgiving for all God’s blessings. The Parish Choir will be back singing next Sunday at the 9:00 a.m. Mass. Come join us for our first rehearsal this Wednesday, September 18, at 7:00 p.m. in Church and see (and hear) what we are all about! There is room for YOU !

JOIN THE JOYFUL NOISE CHOIR ! - Do you know a kid in grade 2-12 that loves music? Are you looking for the perfect way for your child to be fully involved during Mass? Does your child want to meet other kids who have similar interests? Then the Joyful Noise Choir is perfect! We create beautiful music for 11:15am Mass every other week throughout the year. Come and check it out. We meet every other Tuesday, from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in Church. Contact Louise Daniels at 724-216-8002 for more information. Sing a new song unto the Lord and give the Joyful Noise Choir a try.
