The Pilgrimage of Faith Appeal will be held on the weekend
o9f September 28/29. Just as we are one in the Body of Christ,
we must remember that we are one with other parishes in our
diocese. Once a year, our bishop asks each of us to make a
commitment to support the work of the diocesan programs,
services and ministries that make our Local Church viable.
Our parish will receive a 100% rebate of any funds raised above
our goal.

HOLY SPIRIT FALL FAIR & BAZAAR

SONG OF SONGS EVENING FOR SAVANA
A fundraising concert: Ceol na hEireann of the Okanagan Irish
Society, Blakey Okanagan School of Irish Dance, and Friends,
are putting on an evening of entertainment at the Kelowna
Community Theater, Sunday, September 22nd beginning at
7:00 pm This concert will help Savana and her Family as they
struggle to keep their lives together while she battles leukemia.
Savana is the grand-daughter of Peg Day, secretary of Immacu-
late Conception Parish. Savana who just turned 13 in August,
was diagnosed with leukemia June of this year. A silent auc-
tion will run concurrently with the concert in the lobby of the
theatre. Tickets are available at Roy’s Shoes on Ellis Street,
from Peg at Immaculate Conception Parish office, from any
member of Ceol na hEireann & at the door of the theatre.
Tickets are $20 per adult and $10 for children 12 & under.

This Saturday September the 14th the Canadian Conference of Catholic
Bishops and the Catholic Organization for Development and Peace
have designated a day of prayer and fasting for the people of Syria.
Prayer for Peace in Syria
God of Compassion,
Hear the cries of the people of Syria, Bring healing to those suffering
from violence,
Bring comfort to those mourning the dead, Convert the hearts of those
who have taken up arms, and protect those committed to Peace. God of
Hope, inspire leaders to choose peace over violence and seek recon-
ciliation with enemies. Inspire the Church around the world with com-
passion for the people of Syria, and give us Hope for a future of peace
built on Justice for all. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Prince of
Peace, and Light of the World. Amen (This prayer is in collaboration
of the USCCB and Catholic Relief Services)

An Appeal For Warm Winter Clothing
We are collecting warm winter clothing for the woman’s shelter The
Haven, there will be a box in the foyer to drop off your donations.

drawn to understanding what being Catholic is all about?

discuss options and how we could best serve their needs. Our
goal is to help facilitate how God is already working in people's

ST. THERESA’S FALL FAIR
St. Theresa’s Fall Fair will be held on Saturday, September
28th from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. Kicking off with a pancake
breakfast. Silent auction, crafts, bake table, large farmer’s
market, bottle booth, children’s fun room, BBQ lunch, pie and
coffee for dessert, plus much, much more!

PROTECT HUMAN LIFE WEEK
The Kelowna Right to Life Society is once again sponsoring
PROTECT HUMAN LIFE WEEK in Kelowna for 2013!
This year, the week runs from September 29 to October 6th and
kicks off with the annual Walk for Life Fundraiser in Mission
Creek Park on Springfield Road, Saturday September 28th from
1:00 pm to 2:30. Come on down for an afternoon of free re-
freshments, balloons, prizes, and a 2 km walk along Mission
Creek Greenway, all to raise funds for the cause of LIFE in the

SPIRITUALITY AND WHOLENESS WORKSHOP
VIDA IS LEAVING FOR GHANA
WOW! - It’s full! Through your generosity and concern we have filled Vida’s
container with medical supplies, sewing machines, etc. We now
have a car—2006 Toyota Rav4 (4 wheel drive and lots of clear-
ance) which is perfect for her needs getting to villages during
the rainy season and even be an ambulance for emergencies.
Of course, Vida always needs financial support so that’s all she
is able to receive at this time. Thanks for all your support!

ness Workshop “Grief and the Quest for Meaning: The
Spiritual Arc of Tragic Loss”.

WORKSHOP
“Compassion in the Hard Places” an informative and helpful
workshop—Claire Jantzen presenter on Wednesday, Sept. 25,
2013 at Springfield Funeral Home. For professionals who work
with the bereaved, volunteers, or anyone who has found them-
selves in such a situation. The cost is $60/person (includes

CATECHISM TEACHERS & HELPERS WANTED
Word of Life: meetings are the 3rd Saturday of each month in the Bed-
ford Room in the Parish Center after the Saturday morning 9:00 a m
mass at ICC. Our next meeting will take place Saturday, Sept. 21. We
meet for about an hour to read the monthly Word of Life and to share
how we have been able to live the gospel each day. The Word of Life
for September is: "Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and
action". 1Jn 3:18. Everyone most welcome.

UNIQUE, PRACTICAL & DYNAMIC WORKSHOP
Unique, Practical and Dynamic Workshop coming to St. Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna, Friday, September 20, 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m. hosted by Rachel's Vine-yard and Grief to Grace. Our presenter is Dr. Theresa Burke, M.A.,Ph.D., NCP.,LPC.,BCCP,DABFC,DAPA, founder of Rachel’s Vineyard: 'Healing from Abortion' and 'Grief to Grace, Reclaim-ing The Gift of Human Dignity', a program of recovery from sexual, physical, emotional abuse and/or neglect. Presentation material includes “Panic Attacks and Other Limbic System Dis-turbances”, and groundbreaking information (University of Pennsylvania) on “Sleep Deprivation and Insomnia”. This workshop will be of interest to those working in the medical and mental health fields, as well as the general public. Cost for this seminar is $30 per person. ledge in the foyer and placing them in the collection basket. If
you would like envelopes please check the box on the reverse.
Envelopes will be assigned and placed on the ledge in the foyer
for pick up. The label on the envelopes will have your name
on it, the number identifies you and a tax receipt will be sent to
you at the address you registered with.

FILIPINO MASS—will be held the first Sunday of the month
at St Pius X Church starting at 5:30 pm. The mass is followed
by a pot luck dinner.
SPANISH MASS—Mass will be celebrated in Spanish at
3:30 p.m. on the 4th Sunday of the month at
St. Theresa’s, Rutland.
Perpetual Adoration Chapel Group at ICC would
like to request anyone who will be willing to spend
at least one hour a week in our Adoration Chapel
to please call Betty Chipeur at 250-860-6444. We
need more people who are willing and generous for
night time Adoration from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
