ARE YOU, OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW, INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC, OR LEARNING MORE ABOUT YOUR FAITH? - Ever thought of being on the parish catechumenal
team or serving as a sponsor for someone entering the Church. Or, are you still in need, as an adult, of completing your sacramental initiation through First Eucharist and/or Confirmation? You’ll want to take part in our annual Catechumenate process or Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) which is scheduled to start in later September. Interested? Have questions? Call the parish office and set up an appointment with a member of the RCIA team to begin the process.
CAR REQUEST - The Church is looking for a small and economical used car to provide for a Missionary Sister who is coming to serve at our Parish at the end of the year. If there is some generous person who can donate a reliable vehicle to help with Sister’s ministry, please notify the Parish Office.

BIBLE STUDY - The fall Bible study has begun, but it's not too late to join. We are studying the life of the Apostle Paul as he brought the Good News about Jesus to people who had never heard. Bring a bible and an open heart! Beginners welcome. 7 pm on Thursday evenings.
ARISE: At the invitation of Bishop Richard Garcia, our parish is beginning ARISE Together in Christ, a process of spiritual renewal presented by RENEW International. All parishioners are welcome to join and keep growing spiritually in community. LEVANTATE: Por invitación del Obispo Richard García, nuestra parroquia está comenzando el programa LEVANTATE Unámonos en Cristo, el cual consistente en un proceso de renovación y evangelización espiritual presentado por RENEW International. SPECIAL COLLECTION - The bishops of the United States will express their solidarity with Christians and other minorities in the Middle East, in the face of ongoing violence and persecution, by taking up a special collection, September 13th and 14th. Proceeds from the collection will support immediate humanitarian and pastoral needs, as well as the cost of long-term church reconstruction. • With people on the move and robbed of their belongings, many have no means to purchase the basics. CRS and Caritas will provide food, water and living supplies. • Emotional trauma is high, especially among religious and ethnic minorities who were the target of attacks. CRS will train staff and volunteers on trauma healing and the building of peaceful relations. • Many children have missed months of school. CRS and Caritas will provide children with education and exam preparation, while helping schools with the influx of children. • CRS is preparing for the long-term reality facing families: resettling in new locations, the onset of winter, safe shelter, and livelihood options, such as cash-for-work and vocational training.

Playground Thank You - For the past three weeks, parishioners have been able to park and the school children have been able to play on
the new parking lot/playground. We called it the Transformation project and that is what it has been. Something worn
and broken has been remade into something stronger that will provide years of service to our community. The project had its challenges since there are some areas with not even a one percent slope for drainage, and the old asphalt had no base rock at all. We have had a very good working relationship with Granite Construction on this project and know they have delivered an excellent quality parking lot/playground for us. For everyone at our Church and School who have helped make this possible, many, many thanks.
Por las últimas 3 semanas, los feligreses han podido estacionarse y los niños han jugado en el nuevo
estacionamiento/lugar de recreo. Nosotros le llamamos el proyecto de transformación y eso ha sido lo que ha sido. Algo desgastado y quebrado se ha reconstruido en algo más fuerte que nos dará muchos años de servicio a nuestra Comunidad. Este proyecto tuvo varios desafíos, ya que algunas zonas con ni si quiera el uno por ciento de pendiente para el drenaje, y el viejo asfalto no tenia base de roca en absoluto. Hemos tenido una muy
buena relación de trabajo con Granite Construction con este proyecto y nos han entregado una excelente calidad de los espacios del estacionamiento/lugar de recreo. Gracias a todas las personas de la Iglesia y Escue-la que hicieron este proyecto posible, muchas, muchas gracias.

THANK YOU - The new plaza area in front of the Church Hall had the final permit signed-off last week. We would like to thank the contractors who provided their services on the project: Matt Nohr and Kurt A. Hengelbrok, Architect, K R Construction, Dorantes Concrete and Masonry, Aliano Iron Inc, EZ Plumbing, and Salinas Valley Landscape Company. A special thanks to those who generously contributed to the Diocesan Annual Ministries Appeal. The funds rebated to the Parish, after we met our Diocesan goal, are what made this project possible. We are grateful to everyone who has helped make this new, social gathering place so beautiful!
El permiso final de la nueva área de la plaza en frente del Salón de la Iglesia fue firmado la semana pasada. Nos gustaría dar las gracias a los contratistas que proporcionaron sus servicios en el proyecto: Matt Nohr y Kurt A. Hengelbrok, Architect, KR Construction, Dorantes Concrete y Masonry, Aliano Iron Inc, EZ Plumbing, y Salinas Valley Landscape Company. FESTIVAL VOLUNTEER SOCIAL-The Sacred Heart Festival Committee would like to invite all of the festival volunteers to join us for a social on
September 19, 2014 in the Parish Hall from 6:30-8:00. Join us for some appetizers, refreshments, preview our newly built festival games, meet the other volunteers and ask any questions that you may have about the event!

MARRIAGE: Preparation should begin at least 6 months in advance. Please call the Parish Office during office hours for an appointment with the priest.
SACRAMENT OF THE SICK: First Wednesday of each month at 12:15 pm, or by appointment.
HOSPITALIZED/HOMEBOUND: Please notify the Parish Office if you would like Holy Communion.
