CHARITABLE ASSISTANCE
SEPTEMBER 1, 2019 TWENTYSECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
MUSIC FOR OUTDOOR MASSES—AUGUST 31 & SEPTEMBER 1
All Are Welcome
1. Let us build a house where love can dwell And all can
safely live, A place where saints and children tell How
hearts learn to forgive. Built of hopes and dreams and
visions, Rock of faith and vault of grace; Here the love
of Christ shall end divisions:
Refrain: All are welcome, all are welcome, all are wel-
come in this place.
2. Let us build a house where prophets speak, And words
are strong and true, Where all God's children dare to
seek To dream God's reign anew. Here the cross shall
stand as witness And as symbol of God's grace; Here
as one we claim the faith of Jesus:
3. Let us build a house where love is found In water, wine
and wheat: A banquet hall on holy ground, Where
peace and justice meet. Here the love of God, through
Jesus, Is revealed in time and space; As we share in
Christ the feast that frees us:
4. Let us build a house where hands will reach Beyond
the wood and stone To heal and strengthen, serve and
teach, And live the Word they've known. Here the out-
cast and the stranger Bear the image of God's face; Let
us bring an end to fear and danger:
5. Let us build a house where all are named, Their songs
and visions heard And loved and treasured, taught and
claimed As words within the Word. Built of tears and
cries and laughter, Prayers of faith and songs of grace,
Let this house proclaim from floor to rafter:

Harvest of Justice
Refrain: May we find richness in the harvest of
justice which Christ Jesus has ripened for us.
Bread for the journey, bread for the hungry, all for
the glory and praise of God.
1. Gather with patience for those who have nothing.
Leave them your riches, and you will receive.
Make room for the poor ones, make way for the
stranger; for I am the Lord, the Lord your God.
2. For to have mercy on those forgotten, this is my
true law, this is my command: Clothe the naked,
Harvest of Justice continued
be home for the orphan, be hope for the widow,
and welcome the lost.
3. For to have little is to be in abundance. To give
what remains, to give all we have, is to walk with
the poor ones, and become the stranger, one with
the Lord, the Lord our God.
Text: Philippians 1:11, Leviticus 19:9, 23:22, Deuteronomy 24:19; David Haas, b.1957, © 1985, GIA Publications, Inc.
Song of the Body of Christ
Refrain: We come to share our story, we come to
break the bread, We come to know our rising
from the dead.
1. We come as your people, we come as your own,
united with each other, love finds a home.
2. We are called to heal the broken, to be hope for
the poor, we are called to feed the hungry at our
door.
3. Bread of life and cup of promise, in this meal we
all are one. In our dying and our rising, may your
kingdom come.
4. You will lead and we shall follow, you will be the
breath of life; living water, we are thirsting for your
light.
5. We will live and sing: 'Aloha,' (your praises,)
'Alleluia' is our song. May we live in love and
peace our whole life long.
Text: David Haas, b.1957, Spanish translation by Donna Peña, b.1955, © 1989, GIA Publications, Inc.
America the Beautiful
1. O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves
of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the
fruited plain! America! America! God shed his
grace on thee, And crown thy good with brother-
hood From sea to shining sea.
2. O beautiful for pilgrim feet, Whose stern, impas-
sioned stress A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness! America! America! God
mend thine ev'ry flaw, Confirm thy soul in self-
control, Thy liberty in law.
3. O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved, And mer-
cy more than life! America! America! May God thy
gold refine, Till all success be nobleness, And
ev'ry gain divine.
“God in your goodness, you have
made a home for the poor.”
Responsorial Psalm
SEPTEMBER 1, 2019 TWENTYSECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

special part of our Shrine. Thank you for your
generous donations. We look forward to seeing
you again next year beginning Memorial
Weekend.
May the Blessed Mother be with you.
10 FAMOUS WOMEN OF THE BIBLE
6. Samson’s Mother: The Mother Who Followed the
Rules
She is not mentioned by name in the Book of
Judges, although some would say she is the
Hazelelponi mentioned in 1 Chronicles 4. We
cannot know for sure, so we can deduce that what
she did is more important than her name. She was
married to a man named Manoah but was unable to
conceive. Judges 13 tells us,
“The angel of the LORD appeared to her and said,
‘You are barren and childless, but you are going to
become pregnant and give birth to a son. Now see
to it that you drink no wine or other fermented
drink and that you do not eat anything unclean.
You will become pregnant and have a son whose
head is never to be touched by a razor because the
boy is to be a Nazirite dedicated to God from the
womb. He will take the lead in delivering Israel
from the hands of the Philistines.’”
Samson’s mother knew there was something
special about the angel of the LORD, and when her
husband was afraid they would die for having seen
the face of God she became the voice of reason
saying He would not have told us these things if
He were going to kill us.
She gave birth and named the baby Samson, and
the LORD blessed him. Although some of his
actions were questionable, the LORD used him
mightily in His plan to defeat the Philistines.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Jesus sent his disciples out to spread the Good News! We are also
asked to give His message to others. One way we do this is through
the R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). You can share
the Good News by telling those you may know who are interested
in our faith and encouraging them to join the inquiry group this
fall.
“Let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice” (Psalm 105:3).
R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process in
which adults study the Catholic faith, and if they desire, they be-
come full, active, participating members of the Catholic Church.
Weekly meetings are held to discuss scripture, our relationship
with God, and much, much more.
For questions, call Michele Haggerty (573) 372-8594.
Youth Faith Formation classes will begin on
Sunday, September 8, following the 8:30
Mass. All children from Kindergarten
through High School are encouraged to
attend. Please call Michele at
(573) 372-8594 with questions.
