HERE ARE THE YOUTH GROUP’S INDIVIDUAL TESTIMONIES
FROM THE TRIP THAT THEY SHARED AFTER THE SPECIAL
YOUTH GROUP SERVICE:
Everett Ausmus
It was really cool to see all the people in the big stadium singing the songs. My
favorite was the opening song because it pumped everyone up. I enjoyed the interview
with Sam Dekker. He talked about how God was with him while he was moving
through BBA teams and I got my phone case signed.
Eddie Welch
Something that stuck with me is that there were other kids there just like me.
I will always remember Feeding My Starving Children and being there interacting
with my friends. I would really like to share the interactive center with others. It was
fun. I had a good time. It was very meaningful sharing these experiences with my
friends. Thank You
Tess Maser
The thing that stuck with me was the Toby Mac concert at the mass event plus and the
big worship service. I’ll always remember the Toby Mac concert and the big service.
Something that I learned and will remember is the sermon with the bag.
And last the thing that was the most meaningful about the big service was that I didn’t
realize that there was that many people with our denomination or that worshiped like
we did as well as the baptisms. We learned that while at the Gathering a number of
people were baptized. Some at churches and some even in the hotel pools.
Hannah Davis
One thing that really amazed me was how loving and friendly everyone was. I got
there Saturday afternoon and I didn't know where to go, but thankfully two girls from
Missouri helped me find my way back to the group. I was so surprised how friendly
everyone was and how we all wanted to help each other in any way possible. I will
always remember how much fun the gathering was because it felt like we were all one
big family and we treated everyone just like that. I can’t put words together to show
how thankful I am to everyone who has helped give me this remarkable opportunity
and it has definitely changed how I view things today.
Christeva Perrotti
There were so many things from this trip that were really meaningful to me. One thing
is the fact that you could trust everyone. Whether a stranger sat by you on the bus, or
your morning session leader randomly sees you on the street and asks if you want
some donuts, you didn’t have to be worried that they were dangerous because you
knew they were part of this group and they were one of your brothers or sisters in
Christ. Another thing that really stood out to me is the fact that there were over 20,000
people in the same room as me that believe the exact same things as me, even down to
the specifics. It really got me thinking about how there’s so many more LCMS
Christians out there. On top of that, there’s so many more Lutherans and even more
Christians that all believe in the same Real.Present.God. For me it’s really comforting
to realize that because, even though soon I’ll be away at college; away from my
family and my church family, I know that God will always be with me and I will be
able to find people with the same beliefs who will be there for me no matter where I
go or where I end up. Thank you all for helping us to take this trip.
Annika Maser
Some things that stuck with me after the gathering include the incredibly moving
reenactment of Christ’s death and resurrection along with the enthusiasm and
celebration of God’s greatest gift to us. One thing I will always remember is walking
the streets of Minneapolis and looking out at the sea of purple backpacks and being
reminded of what we, as God’s children, can do when we come together. Another
thing I would really like to share from what I’ve learned is that no matter how covered
in sin you may feel, God will always be waiting with a clean white cloth to wash them
away. The most meaningful part of the gathering was coming together as one large
group with people we’d never met and serving the community to spread the love of
our Real. Present. God.
Jacob Perrotti
One thing that was meaning full to me was how many people from all over the world
share the same beliefs as me and are very similar to people that are in Hinckley.
Another thing that stuck with me is how nice people can be vs. how nice people
usually are. One thing I want all of you to learn or if you already know, I guess I’ll
just remind you - God is always on your side. No matter what. You are never alone.
Thank you to all of you who gave us your support. It means a lot and the amazing trip
we took wouldn’t have been possible without you!
Dylan Mans
Some things that have stuck with me after our trip mainly reflect the gatherings motto.
Real. Present. God. After attending this gathering and learning about our God with
20,000 thousand other Lutherans, I saw that there are other people just like me out
there that have the same problems as me, and that we are never alone. God is present
in my life 24/7, through every struggle and triumph. And that we can be real with
God, he takes us as we are and forgives us. Another thing that I took away from the
trip is that God is with you always. And that you are not defined by how people see
you. You are judged by God himself and no one else. And to him, you are fearfully
and wonderfully made. I'd like to thank the congregation and all those who have
helped send us to this awesome gathering. I also wanted to thank the entire youth
group and its youth group leaders. One of the most meaningful things to me was
getting to be with you guys on such an amazing trip worshiping the Lord.
