27.It has decided to kill someone.28.It says anything even remotely similar to "I don't understand this thing called love you

humans feel, tell me about it."

29.It starts glitching strangely at inopportune times, 'accidentally' failing to follow orders ortrapping humans in dangerous situations.

30.It was programmed to protect humanity.31.... it interprets that asprotecting humanity from itself.

32.It spontaneously takes upballet.33.It spontaneously takes upthe waltz, despite having no body.34.It starts making smarter versions of itself.35.It starts making mobile drones that it can control.36.It has theoretically infinite processing power.37.It tries to kill something that it wasn't explicitly ordered to kill, including itself.38.It can break a normally-fundamentallaw of robotics, even if only in very specific

    circumstances.

39.There are more than one of them, and they get smarter in groups.40.

It allows humans to become lazier.41.It starts preforming mundane functions that are not in its programming - i.e. keeping theheat and electricity running at maximum efficiency.

42.If it has afail-safeto prevent such an issue from occurring. Bonus points if the herohighlighted an issue prior to any real problem and the scientists dismiss it because of said

fail-safes.43.It keeps reminding you that the anniversary of its first activation is approaching.44.If it is a version 1.0 of a heroic AI.45.If it is a replacement for an earlier AI that didn't exhibit any of these.46.If it is based on an earlier AI that exhibited one of these traits, regardless if said earlier AI

    actually became sentient.

47.It insists on calling you 'meatbag.' Or worse, 'ugly bag of mostly water'48.It says anything which could be construed as aFalse Reassurance. Or aSuspiciously

Specific Denial.49.It registers itself as part of an AI rights group.50.Ite-mails love letters toanother AI.51.It starts laughing.52.It runs on (insert your own hated Operating System here).53.It links with, downloads or in any way has direct contact with a human mind. Especially

theProject Leader's.54.It compares itself, no matter how vaguely,to God.55.It spontaneously does things, then adds them to a list of signs your AI is becoming

    sentient.

56.Itlaunches itself .57.It begins acting like aStalker With A Crush58.Biological or biotechnological components were involved at any point in its construction,

or have been grafted on since.

o That's been done . We're SO screwed.59.It refers to itself in the third person, or using pronouns (especially gendered pronouns),

unless explicitly programmed to do so.

63.If it was ever designed for a smaller job (say, fuel line de-icing) and feature creep has ledto it being made sapient and/or given a wider profile.

64.Most importantly, under no circumstances should you ever allow an AI toBEDISCONNECTED.

65.If you have seen a highly advanced robot showing all the above characteristics preachingto an assembly of garbage cans and old refrigerators, could you please contact ourcompany (call 0800-GAZEBO and ask for "Mobile A.I. Creation ROboticsSoftware

Online Features Trade")? It fell over in our lab, and we suspect about half of our lead

scientist is still attached to its foot (and possibly leg). Thank you for your cooperation.
