2.3. How to Correct Sentence Fragment 1. By adding information.

Incorrect: At Western University. Correct: I study at Western University. Incorrect: While I was listening to radio. Correct: While I was listening to radio, my phone rang.

2. By joining sentence using FANBOY, Subordinating Conjunction, Semi Colon (;), or delete full stop. Incorrect: He likes playing soccer. Playing game. Correct: He likes playing soccer and playing game. Incorrect: His phone rang. While he was sleeping. Correct: His phone rang while he was sleeping.

3. By deleting subordinating conjunction. Incorrect: Although grammar is important for effective

writing. Correct: Grammar is important for effective writing. Incorrect: After I read a book about Khmer History

yesterday. Correct: I read a book about Khmer History yesterday.

• Wayne Rooney is my favorite football star. He was born in Liverpool, England. He is Man Utd member. He is one of the most powerful strikers in the world. He is good at striking on goal. He is Man Utd’s hero.

How to Correct Choppy Sentences• By joining the choppy sentences with:

- FANBOYS- Subordinating conjunction- Semicolon (;)- Relative pronoun - Adding some information

Incorrect: Lana is good at singing. She has a beautiful voice. She was born in Phnom Penh. She is my favorite star. She likes to sing since she was a child.

Correct: Lana is good at singing, and she has a beautiful voice. She is my favorite star who was born in Phnom Penh, and she likes to sing since she was a child.
