LISA Characteristics
It is a ground-based radar system to produce maps of displacement
Displacement in the line of sight to Lisa position
Monitored area spans 1-5 square km
Maximum range 3-4 km
Sub-millimeter accuracy
Relative measurement between two images
Day and night operation
1 kW power consumption and 100 kg total weight

Motivation of the Mission
The monitoring with the LISA instrument offered to Romanian Authorities on Thursday 20 Apr
First site of interest was in the Bistret area

Bistret Area
Originally the monitoring site was in the Bistret Area
Unfortunately, on 24 Apr 2006 the dike collapsed and about 10000 people had to be evacuated
Romania’s National Society of Land Reclamation (SIFI) suggested the sites of Borcea and Bentu (150 km East from Bucarest)
On Tuesday 25 Apr the Lisa system was shipped to Borcea on a helicopter

Interpretation of Results
Both sites (Borcea and Bentu) are basically stable and no major displacements were observed
In Bentu, three poles of the power line are slightly unstable (3-4 mm in four days), the one near the dredging vessel more unstable
The houses area in the Bentu site is stable
Minor displacements due to the passing cars detected on the dike
