He said based on inputs of audit reports a policy will be formulated to fill the infra- structural gaps and maintain healthy teacher student ratio. He said efforts will be made to meet bare minimum infra- structure for all schools includ- ing building, water electricity supply and equipment for modern education. The Minister was speaking at a public meeting convened to have first hand appraisal of public issues and demands and review follow up on directions issued in previous public meet- ings. A number of issues con- fronting the public ranging from up-gradation of roads, payment of wages under MGNREGA and 14th FC, water scarcity, strengthening of power supply system, com- pletion of buildings of health and educational institutions to up-gradation of schools and health centres, payment of land acquisition cases, provi- sion of hand pumps in drought hit areas and water tanker services to various habitations among others were raised in the meeting. KVK imparts training on layout, management of orchards STATE TIMES NEWS REASI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e- Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) organised a training programme on 'Layout and management of orchards' on Friday at Judd vil- lage in Pounil bock of Reasi Distt which was attended by many farmers of the village. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi while speaking in the technical session, talked on the scientific methodologies to layout and management of the orchards. He emphasized on the quality planting material and urged farm- ers to use only the recommended varieties of fruits crops for the better results. Dr.Suja Nabi Qureshi, scientist elaborated the scientific methods for the establishment of orchards. He talked in length on the selection of site, layout methods and planning of orchards, pit digging procedure, filling of pits, sources of quality planting material, wind breaking fencing etc. The scientists also visited the high density orchard of Sh.Md. Yusuf and were highly impressed by the results. On this occa- sion many quarries were raised by the farmers which the experts answered in a satisfactorily way. The programme was concluded by Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi with vote of thanks. DDC directed the BDOsto accelerate the pace ofwork in their respectiveareas, adopt innovativemethods for effective imple-mentation of schemes andinvolve people in the devel-opment process.

KVK imparts training on layout,management of orchards

STATE TIMES NEWSREASI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologyof Jammu (SKUAST-J) organised a training programme on'Layout and management of orchards' on Friday at Judd vil-lage in Pounil bock of Reasi Distt which was attended by manyfarmers of the village.

Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi whilespeaking in the technical session, talked on the scientificmethodologies to layout and management of the orchards. Heemphasized on the quality planting material and urged farm-ers to use only the recommended varieties of fruits crops forthe better results. Dr.Suja Nabi Qureshi, scientist elaboratedthe scientific methods for the establishment of orchards. Hetalked in length on the selection of site, layout methods andplanning of orchards, pit digging procedure, filling of pits,sources of quality planting material, wind breaking fencing etc.

The scientists also visited the high density orchard of Sh.Md.Yusuf and were highly impressed by the results. On this occa-sion many quarries were raised by the farmers which theexperts answered in a satisfactorily way. The programme wasconcluded by Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist and Head of KVK,Reasi with vote of thanks.

The camp, organised on thedirection of CO Rashtriya Riflesbased at Bhadarwah, was inaugu-rated by Bhushan Lal Ex Sarpanch,in presence of other dignitaries, for-mer Sarpanchs, Numbardars andarmy Medical team. Medical check-ups where conducted out by thearmy doctors and paramedics.

Over 600 people including 440women, 70 men and 90 childrenfrom various localities of Chirallaincluding Ghosti,Jordak, Kurdh,Sham Dali, Sunarthawa,Lowaharthawa, Baji, Dhalla, Ghodiand Boliyan were examined duringthe camp and free medicines givento the poor and needy patients.Locals were appreciable of the suc-cessful conduct of the medical camp.The medical team also createdawareness among the people regard-ing various ailments and maintain-ing good health.
